Chapter 97: Stirring Up the White Ape Nest

“Let’s go take a look.”

Ji Yin suddenly stopped and stared at a white ape sprawled atop a huge rock in front of her.

There were more nearby—one, two, three, four...

She could already feel it clearly: soul power was radiating from these white apes.

As if sensing a strange presence, the white ape abruptly straightened and looked toward Ji Yin, then let out a deafening roar.

The sound struck Ji Yin so hard it felt as though her eardrums might burst.

Ji Yin noticed that these white apes were unlike any she had seen before. Their bodies were two or three times larger, and their eyes were red, making them look far more vicious.

These white apes had not yet developed intelligence; they were merely ordinary beasts. Yet soul power pulsed within them. It had to be because spiritual energy here was so abundant.

"Little Demon, though these white apes aren't human, they do possess soul power. If we take advantage of the situation and rob them a little, the reward would be immense," Ji Yin said, already calculating the value of that power.

"Are you sure we can get away safely with our current strength?"

"No." Ji Yin shook her head. "So we’ll need to plan carefully."

Seeing that Ji Yin still stood there motionless, the white ape on the boulder grew furious.

With a single leap, it landed ten paces away from Ji Yin.

When it hit the ground, it smashed a pit into the earth. The others also rose and took on attacking stances.

Suddenly, a magic talisman appeared between Ji Yin’s fingers and flew into the air. The apes’ attention was drawn to it as they slowly lifted their heads to watch.

Then, all at once, a wind rose around them. The clouds overhead shifted slightly, and a shower of pea-sized raindrops began to fall.

At that very moment, while the white apes’ attention was fixed on the talisman, Ji Yin flicked out a second one. In an instant, the air around them turned several degrees colder. As the raindrops fell, they all froze into sharp icicles.

The apes dodged too slowly and were struck by the ice, their massive bodies crashing heavily to the ground.

The cauldron flashed with a purple-gold light, rapidly drawing the soul power from the white apes’ bodies.

"Ao!" The white apes howled in rage.

The cry echoed ceaselessly through the valley.

Ji Yin could barely stand it and lifted a hand to cover her ears.

In an instant, the ground beneath her began to tremble.

"What’s going on?" Ji Yin realized that not only the white apes she had just seen, but many more besides, were charging toward her. From every direction, countless white ape figures emerged, converging on this spot like a swarm of ants.

"This is bad—we’ve stirred up the ape nest!"

She was surrounded, with even the road to escape sealed off.

The body of the cauldron suddenly enlarged many times over, absorbing the soul power from the approaching apes. Fortunately, it was able to withstand that power.

"Big Demon, what are you still staring at? Hurry up and do something!"

Ji Yin came to her senses with a jolt. She formed a hand seal, and the phoenix feather hanging from her waist mirror suddenly flew before her, taking the shape of a feather fan. She seized it at once and swept it toward the ape horde before her.

A powerful surge of soul power burst from the fan, striking the white apes and felling them in swathes.
