Chapter 40: The Celestial Origin Sect (2)
“Ah, it feels so good to have a home! Great Demon, since coming to Tianyuan Sect, I’ve sensed so many soul force fluctuations.”
“With our current strength, absorbing soul force will only bring trouble upon ourselves.”
“That’s true,” the Demon Cauldron replied helplessly.
“Little Demon, we will definitely grow stronger and rise to the peak of our lives again.”
“Of course I believe that day will come! Because you are the Great Demon Lord Ji Yin!”
“When we become powerful again, as long as we find the teleportation array, we can return to Liusha Star. Dying so miserably—if I don’t avenge this, I’m not worthy of the Ji name!”
…
Tianyuan Sect strictly follows a regimented schedule.
At dawn, everyone must rise and go to the open ground in front of the Tianyuan Hall to meditate. When the morning hour arrives, they proceed to the Palace of Feasts for breakfast. Afterwards, depending on their cultivation, they head to different halls to study internal arts. Noon is for lunch, and the rest of the day is free for personal arrangements.
On Ji Yin’s first morning awakening, she didn’t follow the Sect’s schedule.
Before daybreak, she was disturbed by the sound of a bell, so loud she couldn't sleep.
“Xiao Qi! Time to get up!” Ji Shaowen was already at Ji Yin’s door, calling loudly.
He was the sixth brother, and needed to set a good example for Xiao Qi, as well as take care of and supervise him.
“Sixth Young Master, please wait outside for a moment. I’ll assist Seventh Young Master in getting up.” Shuang’er hurried into Ji Yin’s bedroom to help her dress and arrange her hair.
Ji Yin wore the same plain white robes as Ji Shaowen, with a light blue gauze draped over and a white ribbon tied in her hair. She was a bit slender, and the outfit accentuated her elegant bearing, adding a touch of noble refinement.
She had barely stepped out when Ji Shaowen pulled her along, rushing outside.
Ji Yin noticed the open ground was already filled with people. Some were shrouded in a thin mist, faint spiritual energy flickering within. A few, however, showed no reaction at all.
In such a setting, Ji Yin had no desire to absorb spiritual energy, lest she be seen as a monster. She found her spot, sat down, and began to doze.
Ji Shaowen was already able to condense spiritual energy, so he immediately started cultivating with diligence and focus. He had five elder brothers—except for the fourth, who was a bit weaker, the rest were all formidable, putting him under considerable pressure.
Now even Xiao Qi had awakened his abilities, increasing the pressure all the more! As the elder brother, he couldn’t let his younger sibling surpass him; it would be far too humiliating.
Ji Yin napped for a while, caught up on some sleep, then stretched and glanced around.
Daylight had broken, and the first rays of morning shone warmly upon the earth.
Of the three thousand people present, all except Ji Yin were surrounded by a thin mist, which glowed beautifully in the dawn.
Even now, with spiritual energy so scarce, this was the scene. If the energy revived and suffused the land and mountains, what wonders would unfold?
On Liusha Star, spiritual energy was kept abundant by the spirit trees. Ji Yin suddenly recalled she had not seen a single spirit tree here—was that the main reason for the thin spiritual energy?
Time ticked by, and Ji Yin grew increasingly impatient. Finally, the bell rang, and the once silent square suddenly became lively.
“Xiao Qi, how are you feeling?” Ji Shaowen quickly asked her.
“Not much, really,” Ji Yin shrugged.
