Chapter 68: You Look Like a Chamber Pot
Ever since Ji Yin became Xuan Yuan Ji’s disciple, her status had changed completely. She could clearly sense this transformation. Normally, when walking through the Tianyuan Sect, she would never have attracted so many stares.
“Seventh Young Master, are you going to practice the mental technique as well?” someone asked her.
Ji Yin smiled. “No, I just noticed there’s another bird’s nest on the eaves of Guiyuan Hall. I was thinking, the eggs must have been laid by now.”
A sharp, excited squeak rang out as the Crimson-Flame Mink darted out from somewhere and landed on Ji Yin’s shoulder.
Bird eggs were one of its favorite delicacies.
Everyone who saw the Crimson-Flame Mink was dumbfounded.
“What on earth is that thing?”
The Crimson-Flame Mink stared at them with beady eyes. I am a spirit beast, not just some thing! What a bunch of ignorant, uncultured people!
“That’s a Crimson-Flame Mink! It’s a spirit beast! I read about it in a book once, though the one in the book was bigger. This must be a cub,” someone exclaimed, pointing at the creature, barely able to contain their excitement.
A spirit beast!
Heavens—such a rare species!
The Crimson-Flame Mink stood proudly on Ji Yin’s shoulder, its little paws folded, exuding a haughty air.
At last, someone with a bit of knowledge had recognized it.
“Is this raised by Young Master Xuan Yuan? Only someone like him could possibly tame a spirit beast.”
“Look, it’s following Seventh Young Master. Could it be his pet?”
“That’s unlikely. Beasts naturally submit to the strong. Given Seventh Young Master’s current strength, there’s no way a spirit beast like the Crimson-Flame Mink would willingly serve him.”
Listening to the crowd’s speculation, Ji Yin only smiled again and reached out to poke the mink’s plump belly.
Their guesses weren’t wrong—the little thing hadn’t wanted to acknowledge her, but Xuan Yuan Ji’s overwhelming authority had left it with no choice.
From a distance, Chu Yu approached and saw the gathering around Ji Yin. On her shoulder sat a furry creature. As he drew closer, he realized it was actually a spirit beast.
When Chu Yu arrived, all chatter fell abruptly silent.
Everyone looked up at him.
Then, someone couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
What on earth was Young Master Chu wearing? That hairstyle was certainly something. And with his still-charred complexion set off by his white robes, he was especially conspicuous!
Even Ji Yin’s eyes sparkled with amusement.
Chu Yu’s face flushed red, though luckily his scorched skin made it less obvious.
Suddenly, the Crimson-Flame Mink jumped from Ji Yin’s shoulder, circled Chu Yu once, then lifted a paw and flicked up the hem of his robe—before spraying a jet of urine right onto Chu Yu’s leg!
“What on earth is that smell?”
“So pungent—so foul!”
Ji Yin felt a wave of nausea herself. How could the mink’s urine stink so badly?
Chu Yu’s shoes and trouser cuffs were soaked, his whole body reeking of sharp animal musk. Once that stench clung to someone, it was notoriously hard to wash out—some people would carry it for a month or two.
“Young Master Chu, I truly apologize. My pet is usually the cleanest creature—never relieves itself anywhere. I’m not sure; maybe it thought you looked like a chamber pot and just couldn’t hold back.”
Looked like a chamber pot?
The comparison sent everyone into fits of laughter.
Chu Yu’s expression darkened even further. The people who once followed him now stood on the opposite side, laughing at his expense. All his previous efforts had gone to waste, and now he’d been branded with this new humiliation.
