Chapter 126: Did They or Didn't They?
"It seems that is not the reason, is it?"
"Other than that, what else could there be?"
"Could it be that you have some ulterior motives toward me?"
Ji Yin smiled, lifted Xuanyuan Ji’s chin, and leaned closer to him. Her lips were almost grazing his cheek, and she breathed softly against his ear.
Deliberately lowering her voice to a husky tone, she replied, "Does it count if I’m coveting your beauty?"
"Of course, it counts."
Ji Yin released his chin and settled into a comfortable position to lie down.
The scenery was so beautiful; she found herself longing for a brief nap. Perhaps, in this lifetime, she would never see such sights again.
Just as she drifted into a state between wakefulness and slumber, she suddenly felt Xuanyuan Ji’s presence drawing steadily closer. She felt a sudden surge of nervousness. He must be very, very close to her now. What on earth was he planning to do?! At this moment, she didn’t know whether she should open her eyes or continue feigning sleep.
"Oh heavens, Great Demon, don't move, you absolutely must not move! I guarantee you, Little Brother Xuanyuan is definitely going to kiss you!"
Ji Yin immediately sealed the Demon Cauldron. There was no helping it; it simply knew too much.
It was close—his breath was even closer now!
Ji Yin’s breathing suddenly turned ragged, her heartbeat spiraling into chaos. Her hands gripped her clothes tightly, her mind a complete blank. What should she do? What should she do? How was she supposed to react?
How could Xuanyuan Ji possibly kiss her? It was absolutely impossible! He loathed her far too much for that!
Suddenly, she felt something cool and ticklish brush against her lips, as if touched by something. She immediately opened her eyes. Xuanyuan Ji was still sitting there, his gaze fixed on the distance. She couldn't help but raise her hand to touch her lips, only to find a flower petal resting there!
Just now, it had simply been a petal falling onto her lips; he hadn't kissed her at all!
Yet, she couldn't be mistaken about his presence. In that instant, it had felt so close... almost within reach!
Ji Yin clutched the petal, a wild storm brewing in her heart. She couldn't very well ask him directly, "Were you about to kiss me?" Even she couldn't make sense of it herself!
Xuanyuan Ji turned around and looked at Ji Yin. Her cheeks were more delicate and tender than the peach blossoms surrounding them.
"Are you awake?"
"Yes," Ji Yin nodded. She couldn't help but wonder if she had been having a scandalous dream. She was beginning to lose the line between fantasy and reality.
"Let’s go. My father and the others will be worried if they can't find us," Ji Yin said, standing up and urging him on.
Xuanyuan Ji rose to his feet. With his slender fingers, he brushed a petal from his own shoulder, then reached out to gently flick one from Ji Yin’s shoulder as well. Finally, he reached up to remove a petal from her hair.
Ji Yin had never been this close to anyone—never before.
"Let's go," Xuanyuan Ji turned and began walking ahead.
Ji Yin remained standing where she was, when suddenly, a force pulled her, and she stumbled forward, unable to control herself, falling against Xuanyuan Ji’s back.
A beautiful, exquisite arc curved upon Xuanyuan Ji’s lips.
"I know you covet my beauty, but there’s no need to be so impatient."
Ji Yin hurriedly let go, stepped in front of him, and deliberately reached out to hook her fingers into his belt. "Why? Are you prepared to give in to me?"
Who was she? The Great Demon King! She could never lose her momentum, no matter the situation. She was the only one allowed to tease Xuanyuan Ji; she absolutely could not let him turn the tables and tease her!
Xuanyuan Ji caught her hand and removed it from his waist. "Trying to undress me?"
"If you want to take it off yourself, I certainly wouldn't mind!"
