Shen Miaoyu gazed at the sister she had grown up with, her tone tinged with sorrow.
“Why are you doing this? After all, we are sisters by blood.”
“Sisters? Hah…” Shen Linglong first sneered, then her face twisted with hatred. “Because you are just too much of an eyesore! I hate how you’re always better than me, I hate that you stole Ouyang from me. Why don’t you just die, Shen Miaoyu! Your very existence disgusts me!”
Seeing her sister’s true colors at last, Shen Miaoyu felt her hopes extinguished. The obedient, sweet sister she knew had never really existed.
“Are you done? Can you move aside now?” Shen Miaoyu no longer wished to quarrel.
But Shen Linglong, after so many years of pretending, couldn’t let go when she was so close to trampling Shen Miaoyu beneath her feet. She looked down her nose and declared, “You don’t want our parents to find out about this, do you? If you kneel and beg me now, perhaps I’ll be merciful and keep your secret.”
“Impossible. Get out of my way!” Shen Miaoyu’s voice was sharp.
Shen Linglong scoffed. “No way. What can you do about it, you little wretch? Are you going to have that country bumpkin hit me?”
Smack!
Chu Fei slapped her across the face.
He’d never heard such a request in his life—he had to oblige.
Shen Linglong stared at him in disbelief, clutching her cheek, eyes blazing at the smirk on Chu Fei’s lips.
“How dare you hit me, you mongrel! Do you know who I am?”
Smack!
“You’re a nuisance,” Chu Fei replied, giving her another slap. “And do you know who I am?”
Meeting Chu Fei’s gaze, Shen Linglong’s arrogance faltered.
Still, she asked instinctively, “And who are you?”
“There’s a handsome man atop Dragon Roar Mountain, Chu Fei’s my name and I fear nothing!”
Shen Linglong: “…”
Shen Miaoyu: “…”
—Such a way with words. Is he not afraid of death?
Chu Fei’s sudden attack startled not only Shen Linglong but Shen Miaoyu as well, who looked at him in surprise.
“What’s so surprising?” Chu Fei replied seriously. “I believe in equality of the sexes. Even if she’s ugly as sin, if she acts vile, I’ll smack her just the same!”
“She’s still a member of the Shen family—she’ll retaliate. You shouldn’t be so reckless…” Shen Miaoyu sighed.
Chu Fei shouted at Shen Linglong, “Come on! Hit me! I dare you! I’ll take you on any day!”
Shen Miaoyu: “…”
Shen Linglong: “…”

—Is he insane?
Chu Fei couldn’t be bothered with that wretch.
He pulled the still-dazed Shen Miaoyu into the house.
There were quite a few people inside: not only Shen Miaoyu’s parents, but also a crowd of relatives from the Shen family.
“What’s going on, Miaoyu? Why did you bring home some random man?”
“You were out all night—did you run off with this guy?”
“Are you out of your mind? Passing up on young master Ouyang, a rich and handsome man, to mess around with a shabby priest!”
Relatives bombarded her with questions, their eyes full of disdain as they looked at Chu Fei.
Chu Fei glared right back, not caring what they meant. He cursed them with his eyes anyway.
At the head of the room sat Shen Qiushan, his expression dark as he said, “Xiaoyu, I need an explanation.”
Before Shen Miaoyu could reply, Shen Linglong rushed in and complained to Shen Qiushan.
“Dad, I don’t know where sister found this stray, but I tried to talk sense into her about our family’s future and she had that loser hit me! You have to stand up for me!”
Previously, everyone could only guess at Chu Fei’s relationship with Shen Miaoyu. Now, with Shen Linglong’s words, their suspicions were confirmed.
They all thought the same thing: Shen Miaoyu had completely lost her mind!
“What did you say!”
Shen Qiushan slapped the table and stood up. “Shen Miaoyu, are you really involved with this country bumpkin?”
As he erupted in anger, Shen Linglong looked on, gloating.
Shen Miaoyu had already anticipated this reaction. She seized Chu Fei’s arm.
“Yes, he’s my man. I gave him my first time.”
At those words, the living room fell silent.
Only Chu Fei seemed utterly indifferent.
He couldn’t help it—he was uncouth and took a wicked joy in making trouble.
Shen Qiushan couldn’t take it anymore. “You have a marriage contract! How could you get involved with some nobody like him? Are you trying to drive me to my grave?!”
At this, Chu Fei rolled up his sleeves and strode toward Shen Qiushan.
“Your mother’s dead. If you want to insult her, fine, but if you keep cursing me, do you want to join her in the grave?”
Shen Miaoyu clung tightly to Chu Fei, just barely holding him back.
Only after restraining this hothead did she turn to her furious father. “Dad, I don’t like Ouyang Jue. Why force me to marry him?”
“Because you’re a member of the Shen family. We raised you, gave you food and clothing, a life with no worries. You should sacrifice everything for the family!”
Shen Qiushan’s voice was harsh. “Forget Ouyang Jue—if marrying you to a pig or a dog would benefit the family, you’d have to do it without question! And… how could you fall for someone like him? A pheasant can’t marry a phoenix!”
Chu Fei was about to explode.

He turned to Shen Miaoyu, his face full of indignation.
“This is outrageous! How could he call you a pheasant?”
Shen Miaoyu: “…”
Seeing her silent, Chu Fei lost patience.
He pointed at Shen Qiushan and said, “Your mother’s getting on in years, still knows how to care for people, and doesn’t even require a dowry. Why not have her marry Ouyang Jue? She’d be both wife and mother, and everyone would praise your family’s thrift!”
“Damn you!” Shen Qiushan was so enraged he could barely speak.
Shen Linglong snapped, “Who do you think you are? Is this any place for a toad like you to speak? Clearly you don’t know what death means!”
Did Chu Fei have to take that?
He lunged over and slapped Shen Linglong several times, then grabbed a trash can and shoved it over her head, finally kicking her behind Shen Qiushan!
“Not satisfied yet? Have I given you too much face? Speak to me with more caution!”
Shen Linglong never imagined Chu Fei would dare to hit her in front of so many people.
She threw the trash can aside, cowering in humiliation behind Shen Qiushan.
“Dad, are you just going to stand by and let him bully me like this?”
“Young man, you’re too insolent!” Shen Qiushan shouted, thoroughly displeased.
“You dare strike my daughter in front of me? Do you really think the Shen family is so easily bullied?”
“A sip of horse urine makes you proud and arrogant. If you want to stand out, you risk your life!” Chu Fei retorted with his usual bravado.
Shen Qiushan was so angry he laughed. “Fine, you really want to die, don’t you? Old Zhu, cripple him for me!”
At these words, Shen Linglong peered out from behind Shen Qiushan with malicious glee.
Even Shen Miaoyu was worried now.
Zhu Yunyin was an expert martial artist hired by the Shen family.
If he made a move, Chu Fei could very well be beaten to death.
“You little bastard, I suggest you kneel and apologize to President Shen immediately, or I’ll make you wish you were dead!”
Zhu Yunyin stepped forward, his presence menacing.
Chu Fei paid him no mind, as if he hadn’t heard a word.
“Are you deaf?”
Feeling ignored, Zhu Yunyin charged at Chu Fei, bracing himself for impact.
“I told you to kneel and beg for forgiveness—can’t you hear me?!”
