Chapter 131: Afraid of Beating You to Death
This was undoubtedly a challenge to Chu Fei’s capabilities.
It was no surprise that Uncle Huang held such an attitude; after all, Chu Fei looked anything but reliable. Furthermore, with the ongoing tensions between the Martial Alliance and the Samurai Association, there was no telling if they would strike at Nie Ke’er again. Uncle Huang could not possibly entrust the girl’s safety to a wet-behind-the-ears brat.
"Who is this old geezer?" Chu Fei asked, his tone sharp. He detested being spoken to with such condescension. Since the man lacked basic manners, Chu Fei saw no reason to be polite himself.
Seeing Chu Fei dare to speak to him in such a manner, Uncle Huang retorted with a malicious glare: "Young people these days—zero substance, but their mouths are foul as can be!"
Chu Fei didn't hold back, maintaining his usual steady rhythm. "Old fossils these days—zero manners, but they sure live long enough to be an eyesore!"
Xi Xi couldn't help but let out a giggle. This only fueled Uncle Huang’s rage. In the art of verbal sparring, he had never lost to anyone. He never expected that a man who spent his life watching hawks would have his own eyes pecked out by one today.
"You brat, you're looking for a beating, aren't you? Huh?" Uncle Huang rolled up his sleeves, ready to strike, but Nie Ke’er held him back.
"Uncle Huang, can you please act your age?" Nie Ke’er said helplessly. "You’re a senior—why are you arguing with a young man?"
"Miss Ke’er, this brat’s mouth is just too filthy!" Uncle Huang glared at Chu Fei, who wore a mock-innocent smile. "What are you laughing at? If you’ve got guts, come out and fight me one-on-one!"
Chu Fei shook his head. "Better not..."
Uncle Huang assumed Chu Fei was chickening out and mocked him immediately: "Afraid, are you? But without even this much courage, you’re simply not worthy of Miss Ke’er..."
Chu Fei’s follow-up sentence almost sent Uncle Huang into a fatal rage. He added, "I’m afraid I might beat you to death."
"Miss Ke’er, don't stop me!" Uncle Huang roared, furious. "If I don't beat the crap out of him today, I'll eat my own shoes!"
Who was he? He was the head steward of the Nie family. He had watched Nie Renwang grow up from a child; even the master of the house had to address him as Uncle Huang. To be insulted so brazenly by an unknown punk—there was no way in hell he could swallow this!
"Uncle Huang, can you stop making a scene?!" Nie Ke’er said, annoyed. "Chu Fei saved my life! How can you repay kindness with hostility?"
Nie Ke’er, despite being frustrating at times, was a girl who knew her debts and kept her word. Knowing full well how formidable Uncle Huang was, she did her best to prevent a fight, fearing that Chu Fei would inevitably suffer.
With Nie Ke’er blocking him, Uncle Huang couldn't do much to Chu Fei, but the wily old man had plenty of tricks up his sleeve. He immediately changed tactics, saying to Nie Ke’er, "Fine, Miss Ke’er. For your safety, I must test his strength!"
"Is that really necessary?" Nie Ke’er knew the old man was up to no good. "Chu Fei already defeated those three from the Samurai Association. Isn't that proof enough of his strength?"
Uncle Huang shook his head. "Those dogs were too weak; they prove nothing. If the Samurai Association sends more powerful experts, he certainly won't be able to protect you!"
Seeing the old man wouldn't let it go, and needing to change his own destiny, Chu Fei didn't want to miss this opportunity to win over Nie Ke’er. He asked directly, "How do you want to test me, then?"
"Don't say I'm bullying the young," Uncle Huang sneered at Chu Fei. "I won't fight back. You hit me three times. If you can make me take even one step back, you win. Do you dare?"
Given his strength, even if Chu Fei had the peak power of a Martial Venerable, he wouldn't be able to scratch him. He would likely even be repelled by the defensive spiritual energy protecting him, ending up injured and sent flying. That way, he would regain both his pride and his status!
Chu Fei had never heard of such a ridiculous request. He asked Nie Ke’er, "Does this old man have some kind of fetish? Does he enjoy being hit?"
"Enough talk! Just tell me if you have the guts to accept the challenge!" Uncle Huang huffed, his mustache twitching.
Since it had come to this, Chu Fei figured he wouldn't be able to leave without giving the man a thrashing. He relented, "Fists and kicks have no eyes—you asked for this!"
Seeing Chu Fei accept, Uncle Huang revealed a cold smirk.
Nie Ke’er quickly grabbed Chu Fei’s arm. "Are you stupid? That’s the head steward of our Nie family! He’s been with us even longer than my father. His strength is unfathomable. Can’t you be the bigger person? Why are you arguing with an old man?"
"I will be even 'bigger' than him by 'transcending' him," Chu Fei said, pulling his arm away and walking toward Uncle Huang.
"Ke’er, even though Chu Fei is quite strong," Xi Xi whispered, worried, "Uncle Huang was once a master on the Heaven and Earth Rankings. Even though he voluntarily retired from the list, Chu Fei is definitely no match for him!"
As the Nie family’s head steward, Uncle Huang’s strength was unquestionable. In his prime, he had even been in the top fifty of the Heaven and Earth Rankings. One had to know that the minimum requirement for that list was the Martial Emperor level, which sat above the Martial Venerable stage.
Simply put, Uncle Huang was at least a Martial Emperor. A Martial Emperor under the age of thirty was a rare phenomenon, so Xi Xi naturally didn't have high hopes for Chu Fei.
Nie Ke’er sighed helplessly. "What’s the use of telling me? Go and convince that idiot not to throw his life away!"
"Something’s not right, Ke’er. Haven’t you always hated him?" Xi Xi asked, picking an awkward moment. "I’ve been curious since the start—why did you come here to find him yourself? Don't tell me you're just being coy, and you actually like him?"
"What time do you think it is?" Nie Ke’er retorted, annoyed. "I don't like that idiot at all, I just..."
"Just what?"
"Oh, forget it! Let’s just figure out how to stop that fool from dying!"
Just as the two women were about to rush over, Zhou Mi suddenly spoke up: "Don't worry. My junior brother is invincible. Let alone this old Mr. Huang, even if your father came, he might not be able to beat my junior brother!"
The two women stared at Zhou Mi in shock, wondering what kind of madness she was spewing. Did love really reduce a person’s IQ to zero?
Meanwhile, in the center of the arena, Uncle Huang was prepared. His entire body was covered in a layer of spiritual armor—his strongest defensive martial art: the Golden Bell Shield.
"Come on, kid, use all your strength!" Uncle Huang said haughtily. "I’ll show you what it means when an 'incoming dragon meets a descending tiger'—society doesn't revolve around you!"
Chu Fei raised his fist. "My punch is quite heavy. Brace yourself."
"Come, hit me right here! Don't be polite!" Uncle Huang stuck his face out, pointing to his cheek in a provocative gesture.
BOOM!
Chu Fei’s punch landed, and Uncle Huang’s Golden Bell Shield shattered instantly. The face that had been mocking him just a moment ago saw its features contort into a single mass upon contact. The force was so immense it felt like being flattened by a heavy truck.
After spinning dozens of times on the spot, Uncle Huang finally collapsed to the ground, clutching his face. Countless words flooded his mind, eventually condensing into two:
"Holy crap!"
