After a strenuous effort, Song Yalan not only failed to "convince" Chu Fei, but she also ended up nearly exhausted herself. In contrast, Chu Fei remained as energetic as ever, even planning to head back to find Jiang Yunqi for the second half of the night.

Seeing Chu Fei preparing to leave, a flushed Song Yalan gasped for air and asked weakly, "You're leaving just like that?"

"If I don't leave, I'm afraid you'll drain me dry."

Recalling her own initiative moments ago, Song Yalan’s lovely face flushed even deeper. This was the first time she had ever been so proactive; she had never even been this passionate back when she was with Guan Caijun.

"So, what are we now?" She knew she wouldn't hear anything sweet from Chu Fei, but she couldn't help but want an answer.

For once, Chu Fei turned serious. Without hesitation, he said, "You are my woman, so I’ve decided to give you a grand gift."

"What kind of gift?"

"Two days from now, the Chu Group is hosting a banquet where they will announce their partner for the Wanlicheng project. You know about this, right?"

Of course, Song Yalan knew. It had been the talk of Dragon City lately. In particular, the Shen family seemed to have already been designated as the project's collaborator. Song Yalan knew very well that if this project succeeded, the Shen family would surely leap from a second-tier family to a top-tier one. Because of this, she had even intended to build a good relationship with the Shen family just to get a taste of the spoils.

Curious, she asked, "I know, but what does that have to do with your gift?"

"I intend to give you this project," Chu Fei declared, his words shocking.

It was a tall order. However, if Chu Fei could actually pull it off, Song Yalan didn't feel like she was at a disadvantage. After all, she was already unable to live without him. Regardless of the Wanlicheng project, she had already resolved to turn a blind eye to his other affairs. But this was too outrageous; even if she wanted to believe in his capability, she couldn't find a reason to convince herself.

"Can you draft a script before you go around bragging?" Song Yalan said helplessly. "The whole city knows that the young master of the Meng family is the Shen family’s future son-in-law. With that connection, the Shen family is already the predetermined partner. How could you possibly hand this project over to me?"

Chu Fei raised an eyebrow. "You don't believe me?"

"I want to believe you, but you're blowing things way out of proportion!" Song Yalan spread her hands. "I don't know how you convinced Tan Yingyao to hand over three billion for nothing, but behind the Wanlicheng project is the Meng family. How can you expect me to believe you can make them cooperate with me with just a word?"

Chu Fei chuckled. "How about a bet?"

"Alright, what are we betting?" Song Yalan was intrigued.

"If I succeed, you aren't allowed to be jealous anymore, you must be available whenever I call, and I get to choose whichever positions I want—you belong to me to play with as I please."

"…I knew you’d come up with some weird condition like that. And if you fail?"

"If I fail, you win."

"That would be my total loss! No, if you fail, you only get to sleep with me from now on!"

Chu Fei was certain of his victory, so he readily agreed.

He got dressed and prepared to leave, but as he opened the door, Guan Ya tumbled into the room. This left Song Yalan feeling incredibly awkward. From Guan Ya’s earlier movement, it was clear she had been eavesdropping at the door the whole time—she had heard everything!

Song Yalan couldn't help but snap in embarrassment, "I told you to go back to your room! Why didn't you listen?"

"Going back to my room is impossible. Covering my ears was the best compromise I could make!" After retorting, Guan Ya looked at Chu Fei. "Have you made up with my mom?"

"Yes. Aren't you going to call me Dad?" Chu Fei teased.

Guan Ya retorted sharply, "In your dreams! I’m not calling you that!"

"Call me what?"

"Dad!"

"Good, good daughter."

Having had his fun, Chu Fei left the villa to find Jiang Yunqi. It took a moment for Guan Ya to process what had happened, and though she stomped her feet in frustration, there was nothing she could do about him. She climbed onto the bed and said to Song Yalan, "This is the man you chose? He doesn't even try to please me!"

"How could a personality like his ever try to please you?" Song Yalan asked in return, leaving Guan Ya speechless.

"Mom, are you really going to stay with him?"

"You heard everything, didn't you? I..."

"No need to say anything, Mom. I understand." Guan Ya spoke with empathy. "After all, what woman in this world doesn't love a hero?"

Chu Fei’s arrival was like that of a hero for the mother and daughter; he had already saved them from fire and water several times.

"Guan Guan, I know you have feelings for him." Song Yalan decided to be honest with her daughter. "But a man like him isn't someone you can control—not even I can. So, I hope you won't waste any more time on him."

"Mom, don't worry. As long as you're with him, I'll keep my distance," Guan Ya said seriously. "But since I'm your only daughter, your inheritance will be mine when you pass away, including Chu Fei."

"So... Mom, when are you going to die?"

Song Yalan: "..."

"Alright, I'm just kidding." Guan Ya pretended to be carefree. "It's hard to find a toad with two legs, but aren't there plenty of men with three? I'm still young; I can wait—until you die, or until I fall for someone else."

Song Yalan said nothing more, only pulling Guan Ya into a hug. *One shouldn't meet someone too stunning in their youth; otherwise, no matter how the days pass, one will never be able to truly love anyone else again.*

...

Dragon City. A branch of the Martial Prohibition Bureau.

"So, Ms. Nie, you're saying that members of the Samurai Association attacked you and killed Hall Master Jiang and the butler?"

"After that, you fought them for thirty rounds, took down two of the Japanese men, and left only the one, Toni Muda, lying in the hospital in a coma?"

"Is that the entire process?"

Sitting across from Nie Ke'er was a beautiful woman of mixed heritage in a uniform. Her face was as exquisite as a painting, blending Eastern grace with Western depth. Her uniform was tailored to show off her proud figure; while not as curvaceous as Nie Ke'er, her proportions were perfect.

"No, it was three hundred rounds. It was an earth-shattering battle!" Nie Ke'er corrected her seriously. Chu Fei had saved her, and she didn't want him to get involved, so she tried to hide his existence as much as possible. Besides, that Toni Muda wouldn't be waking up anytime soon anyway!

"Ms. Nie, if our files are correct..." the mixed-race beauty countered directly, "you only have the strength of a seventh-grade Martial Ancestor. How could you defeat three Martial Venerables on your own?"

Nie Ke'er bluffed, "I’m just naturally gifted, can't I? I love killing enemies above my rank."

"Is that so? I don't believe it." The beauty shook her head.

Nie Ke'er glanced at the name tag on the woman's uniform and, having learned her name, said, "Mia... Captain Mia, right?"

"How they died doesn't matter. What matters is that the Samurai Association has sent people to kill me. Instead of going after them, you're wasting time questioning me here. I suspect you're targeting me!"

Mia smiled. "You are the daughter of Alliance Master Nie; how would I dare target you? Thank you for the statement. We will contact the Samurai Association soon."

After Nie Ke'er replied, "That's more like it," she turned and left the interrogation room, departing the bureau with Xixi.

Mia held Nie Ke'er's statement and walked toward the branch director's office. She had something to report—it was about Chu Fei.
