Chapter 99: How About I Just Call You Grandson?
Backyard Management Office of Nightfall Bar
“Master Sun, Duan Xingye didn’t die from jumping off the building; he’s alive and kicking. And you still want me to pay you? You must be dreaming!” Xu Li crossed her arms, shouting furiously at the gloomy middle-aged man before her.
The news that Duan Xingye had inexplicably leapt from the rooftop unharmed had spread throughout the upper echelons of Haicheng society.
She had been restless these past few days, fearing trouble would find her. Yet now Master Sun had come knocking, demanding money.
Master Sun retorted sharply, “In our line of work, payment is due whether the task succeeds or fails. The other party broke my formation, severely draining my energy. Without your money, how am I supposed to buy spiritual medicine?”
Sun Dayong was known for spending money like water. He had earned quite a bit from Xu Li before, but it all vanished quickly.
Suddenly, Master Sun’s expression twisted into something sinister as he muttered, “To think someone in Haicheng could break my formation… impressive.”
A cool spring breeze carried a soft, teasing voice: “Little Sun, the ancestor isn’t just impressive—she’s formidable.”
A young woman in a white flowing dress appeared silently before them.
Xu Li gasped, “Bai Chuwei?!”
Master Sun glared at the girl, his face darkening with disdain. “Little Sun? In all of Haicheng, who doesn’t respectfully call me Master Sun?”
Bai Chuwei touched her chin thoughtfully, feigning realization. “Oh? ‘Little Sun’ isn’t allowed? How about I call you ‘grandson’ then?”
Master Sun, still fuming from not getting paid, raised his hand to slap her, but suddenly heard her lightly command, “Kneel.”
His legs betrayed him; with a thud, he dropped to his knees, utterly powerless.
Master Sun’s eyes widened in shock as he looked up at Bai Chuwei. “Who… who are you?”
This was the power of Word Magic!
Master Sun had seen word mages before, but they always needed to use magical tools or talismans. Bai Chuwei used nothing.
Leaning against the wall with a bright smile, Bai Chuwei said, “Who am I? Didn’t my little paper crane tell you?”
Paper crane?!
Master Sun’s scalp nearly exploded.
He had assumed his opponent would be a seasoned middle-aged practitioner, someone in their forties or fifties with profound cultivation. Instead, it was a young girl?
Coming here within three days… she was here to cause trouble!
Though Bai Chuwei still wore a gentle smile, an inexplicable chill ran through Master Sun.
“What exactly do you want?” Sun Dayong struggled desperately on the floor, sweat pouring down his forehead.
Bai Chuwei replied coolly, “If you had come to me within three days, I would have let you choose: an arm or a leg. But you didn’t show up.”
Her smile was serene, yet every word sent shivers down the spine.
Xu Li was nearly terrified out of her wits. If Master Sun couldn’t handle this little witch, how could she?
Moreover, Bai Chuwei immediately noticed the home’s decor was designed according to Feng Shui principles…
Xu Li screamed, “Someone, help! Bodyguards! Security!”
Hearing hurried footsteps outside, Bai Chuwei strolled around the office as if she were at home. She casually picked up a candy from the table, unwrapped it, and popped it into her mouth.
“Low-quality candy,” she said disdainfully, spitting it out.
Several bodyguards rushed in, followed by Di Zongping sneaking in at the back. Seeing Master Sun kneeling on the ground, his heart skipped a beat.
Damn… should he even be here?
