Chapter 028: The Tong Family's Debt Unpaid for Ten Years
Beside them, Duan Xingye looked as if he had seen a ghost and shouted, “Aunt Tong, what are you talking about? The one who did the acupuncture was Vivi! The Liu Elder you invited nearly killed Grandpa with that one needle—if Vivi hadn’t intervened in time, we wouldn’t even be seeing him now!”
Tong Yunrou’s smile froze, her eyes suddenly wide. “What did you say? Who saved him?”
Vivi?
Who is Vivi? She had never heard of such a person!
Duan Xingye replied, “We went up Yunwu Mountain to invite the miracle doctor, whose skills are far superior to Elder Liu’s.”
As he finished, he instinctively glanced at Duan Xiuqi, seeing his third uncle’s face turn colder, and cursed inwardly for his loose tongue. Third and fourth uncle had always been at odds; third uncle didn’t even want to hear fourth uncle’s name.
It was understandable. Twenty years ago, if Duan Feihan hadn’t sneaked out at the age of four with that girl, third uncle would have married her long ago, instead of waiting twenty years.
Since then, Duan Xiuqi had never treated Duan Feihan kindly.
Duan Xingye laughed awkwardly, patting his own mouth repeatedly.
Liu Zhen stood there, his old face burning red with shame, his white mustache trembling, and he said awkwardly, “I won’t argue with children… I—I’ll take my leave now.”
Without waiting for anyone’s response, Liu Zhen gathered his belongings and hurried off, nothing like the arrogant figure he had been when he arrived.
Thinking about how he had accused the young girl of being inexperienced, his face stung as if he’d been slapped. He could only comfort himself: perhaps she had merely learned some acupuncture, and knew nothing of other medical arts.

Bai Chuwei walked into the Bai family villa, changing her shoes at the entrance, when a figure rushed toward her.
Bai Yinyin glared furiously, demanding, “I saw you coming back in a Rolls-Royce from the balcony just now! Whose car was that?”
Bai Chuwei, slipping into slippers, replied coolly, “Does that concern you? Would your grandfather dare speak to me like that?”
Bai Yinyin, enraged, retorted, “My grandfather fell for your tricks! I thought you came from the countryside and would be simple and honest, but now you’ve hooked up with a rich man? You’re really—ah—!!”
“A rat! Such a fat rat!!”
Feeling something at her feet, Bai Yinyin looked down to see a plump white hamster sprawled across her foot. Her scalp tingled with terror, and she shrieked over and over.
Snowball bared its teeth at Bai Yinyin, chasing her as she stumbled and shrieked around the foyer.
Bai Chuwei’s eyelids twitched; resigned, she stepped forward, picked up Snowball by its hamster tail, and headed for the third-floor attic.
Bai Yinyin, still trembling atop the table, screamed at Bai Chuwei, “Don’t think that just because you helped me, I’ll—”
At that moment, Bai Guofu’s furious voice thundered from below: “Bai Yinyin! The ancestor is living in our house now—do you have no manners? You’re disgracing the Bai family girls! Who taught you to climb on the dining table? Get down at once!”
“You won’t eat tonight!”
Bai Chuwei paid no attention to the commotion downstairs. She set Snowball on her desk, patting the fat hamster’s face. “I didn’t take you to school today. Have you tallied up my assets in this world?”
Snowball squeaked: ‘Ancestor, your assets over the past five thousand years far exceed the world’s richest, but I’ve found just a portion.’
Snowball: ‘The Tong family owes you ten years’ worth of unpaid debt.’
Bai Chuwei raised her eyebrows with interest.
Someone dared to owe her money?
