Chapter 66: Voluntary Pact
"Ah, my eyes!"
Heize screamed in agony on the ground, then leaned forward and began to retch.
Meanwhile, the woman who had screamed hastily pressed down her short skirt and patted her chest lightly, a look of relief mingling with her beautiful smile. Even her Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily.
Yes, her Adam's apple.
Anyone who has attended biology class knows that only men have an Adam's apple; women do not.
Yet this stunning woman, whose beauty could easily score a ninety out of a hundred, was none other than the legendary Big D Moe Girl!
Heize, brought this on himself—he had glanced where he shouldn’t and seen what he shouldn’t, and now he was reduced to this pathetic state.
“Whose dog is this, vomiting so miserably?”
The beautiful woman, only now noticing Heize retching in the distance, looked at him with genuine sympathy in her eyes. She minced over on tiptoe, like a kitten.
“Stay away from me!”
Heize was so frightened that his retching ceased, his whole body trembling. He had been a dog in Martial City for several years, long since grown accustomed to the changes in society. So when he saw a human, he never thought to attack or transform back; he only wanted to retreat carefully and look for a chance to slip away.
But despair overtook him!
The Moe Girl crouched down, and his field of vision once again landed where it shouldn’t.
“Ugh!”
Heize began to gag all over again.
But in the next instant, every hair on his body stood on end, for a delicate hand was gently patting his head.
“Poor doggy! Did you eat something bad?”
Her soft, gentle voice was filled with compassion, yet it struck Heize like a bolt of lightning; his eyes grew moist, and he howled inwardly, “Buddy, have mercy, I really didn’t mean to!”
“Ha! Found you at last. Go on, run!”
As Heize quaked in fear, an arrogant burst of laughter echoed his way.
Heize’s body shuddered. The Moe Girl seemed oblivious to his terror—her delicate brows drew together, and she turned to see a man and a woman striding quickly toward them.
“Damn mutt, you dared trick me! Wait till I catch you—see how I deal with you!”
Lin Qiu glared at Heize, ignoring the Moe Girl entirely.
“You’re not allowed to hurt the dog!”
The Moe Girl spread her arms, shielding Heize behind her. “If you bully him, I’ll call the Patrol Guard and report you for animal abuse.”
Her voice was beautiful, with a touch of androgynous charm.
Hearing this, Lin Qiu’s eyes lit up in delight. He hadn’t expected such a stunning beauty to live in this neighborhood—this trip had certainly not been wasted!
Behind the Moe Girl, Heize’s gaze grew strange. His look of terror faded, replaced by something almost akin to enjoyment—as if he relished being protected.
His brief few years of memory were all shrouded in darkness. Though he felt no malice toward humans, he was wary of them. Yet this Moe Girl’s kindness sent a warm current surging through his heart, a sensation so unfamiliar that it was almost moving him to tears.
Heize’s eyes grew gentler still.
But Lin Qiu’s eyes widened in shock.
He watched as Heize slowly transformed into stardust and slipped into the Moe Girl’s crown chakra.
“A voluntary contract? What is this creature thinking?”
Lin Qiu’s eyelid twitched uncontrollably. He couldn’t understand it.
Heize’s bloodline was so exalted, rivaling the ancient overlords themselves. With such noble lineage, why would he voluntarily form a contract with a total stranger?
But he didn’t know of Heize’s shadowed past.
Now, a stranger had stepped forward to protect him so sincerely, moving him deeply and inspiring an impulse to guard her for a lifetime. So, he initiated the contract without hesitation.
Heize had another motive, too: once he recognized this Moe Girl as his master, these two Bureau of Exotic Beasts agents could no longer arrest him. He and the Moe Girl would be bound as one—if he came to harm, she would be doomed as well. Such was the dominance of the shared contract.
Whether human or beast, if one died, so would the other.
Heize was staking his life on this gamble.
With his bloodline, he could continue evolving and live for a hundred, a thousand, perhaps even more years. But if this woman’s constitution was as weak as Xu Bing’s, evolution would be cut off entirely. Should she die of old age, no matter how noble Heize’s bloodline, he would only be fit to share her grave.
That was what astonished Lin Qiu—he thought the beast must be out of his mind!
The Moe Girl was stunned as well.
Her body began to move of its own accord. Countless motes of starlight swirled around her, her clothes changing as if by magic.
A few seconds later, Lin Qiu and Xu Bing, standing before her, both gasped in shock.
“I—”
Lin Qiu’s eyes went wide, nearly drooling.
The Moe Girl now wore a classical cheongsam that showed off her figure to perfection. The slit ran so daringly high that Lin Qiu felt a nosebleed coming on.
Even Xu Bing’s eyes were tinged with envy. This woman’s figure was so flawless it seemed the cheongsam had been tailored just for her.
Her hair was elegantly coiled, adorned with a single red blossom. In her slender hand, she held an oil-paper umbrella.
She opened the umbrella.
Bathed in sunlight, this woman in traditional dress stood beneath her painted parasol, the motif of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" visible in its folds. A faint smile played about her lips, exuding an inexpressible charm.
The flawless figure, the perfect cheongsam, devoid of garish patterns—only subtle, mysterious markings like clouds at the horizon.
“This…”
Lin Qiu swallowed hard, unable to help himself, while the Moe Girl snapped out of her daze and confusion.
With a wave of her right hand, a wall of air appeared. In the sunlight, a thin, translucent sheen glimmered across its surface, like a mirror reflecting her entire form.
Staring at her reflection, the Moe Girl’s pupils dilated in shock.
“So beautiful! Absolutely stunning!”
She was completely captivated by her own image, nearly dropping to her knees in worship.
Hearing this unabashed self-admiration, Lin Qiu frowned slightly. Why did those words sound so familiar?
He instinctively took out his compact mirror and checked his own reflection. Seeing the elegant, handsome youth gazing back, he murmured in the same infatuated tone, “So handsome! So incredibly handsome!”
“Uh…”
Lin Qiu stood there, stunned. Looking from himself to the Moe Girl, he finally understood why he had felt such a sense of déjà vu.
They were kindred spirits after all. Lin Qiu’s eyes grew moist—he was truly moved to have finally found a soulmate.
