Chapter 96: Epic Equipment, Thousand Faces
Xu Han logged out of his account, then went to the front desk.
The receptionist was a lightly made-up woman in a cheongsam.
A faint smile lingered on her face. “Hello. Please enter your student ID and password.”
After Xu Han entered them, the woman took out a black dragon claw nearly as thick as an adult man’s thigh and handed it to him.
The claw was covered in jet-black dragon scales.
Its talons were like daggers.
Sharp. Vicious.
Xu Han stored the dragon claw in his spatial ring.
Then he asked, “Can I exchange an epic-grade item for one of the school’s epic-grade items?”
The woman froze.
A moment later, her eyes widened in shock.
“You have an epic-grade item?”
She looked Xu Han up and down.
Judging by the student ID, he was clearly a freshman.
How could a freshman possibly possess an epic-grade item?
Xu Han nodded and took out the Ape King Bracers, handing them over.
The woman accepted them and glanced at their attributes.
They really were epic-grade!
Even her voice began to stammer. “Th-this... I... I need to ask my supervisor first. Is that all right?”
Xu Han nodded.
The woman set down the Ape King Bracers and hurried off.
Soon after, a man in a suit and gold-rimmed glasses came hurrying over.
He smiled and nodded at Xu Han. “Hello, I’m the supervisor here. My name is Zhu Yuanming. Please come to my office so we can discuss it.”
Xu Han followed Zhu Yuanming to the office.
Zhu Yuanming extended a hand. “Please let me take a look at the epic-grade item.”
Xu Han handed over the Ape King Bracers.
After carefully checking their attributes, Zhu Yuanming gave a slight nod. “These Ape King Bracers are actually of fairly good quality among epic-grade items.”
“Other than epic-grade weapons, you may choose any one epic-grade item as a trade.”
With that, he took out a tablet computer and placed it in front of Xu Han.
The screen displayed nothing but epic-grade items.
Xu Han tapped on a pair of battle boots and checked their attributes.

[Description: Boots imbued with the power of the gale, equipment once worn by the legendary hero Windrunner]
[Equipment Requirement: Level 20]
Xu Han nodded slightly. These boots had excellent attributes.
They could also summon clones to confuse an enemy.
At critical moments, they would undoubtedly be useful.
Still, he did not rush to choose them. Instead, he continued looking through the other epic-grade items.
His gaze fell upon a pair of bracers.
These bracers were covered in thick black fur all over, like a pair of bear paws.
He checked their attributes.
[Savage Bear Bracers]

[Equipment Requirement: Level 25]
These bracers came with many skills.
But for Xu Han, they were not especially tempting.
His eyes drifted over several other epic-grade items for a while.
Then they stopped on a mask.
The mask looked extremely ordinary, with only two openings for the eyes.
He checked its attributes.
[Thousand Faces]
[Quality: Epic]
[Strength +500]
[Spirit +500]
[Cooldown Reduction +10%]
[Skill 1: Illusory Face — After use, you can transform into any face you have seen before. No cooldown]

[Description: The mask worn by the legendary and mysterious Thousand Faces. Once you put it on, you can become anyone]
[Equipment Requirement: Level 20]
This item was not bad.
It could turn him into anyone.
At critical moments, it could produce astonishing results.
Xu Han pointed at Thousand Faces and said, “This one.”
Zhu Yuanming froze. “Are you sure?”
“This item offers almost no improvement to combat strength. It’s not really suitable for a newcomer like you.”
Xu Han smiled. “I’m sure. This one.”
For him, increasing combat strength was secondary.
Functional items like this were far rarer.
Seeing that Xu Han insisted, Zhu Yuanming said nothing more. He picked up a call device and said a few words into it.
Very soon, a woman entered carrying a tray.
On the tray lay a plain, unremarkable mask.
Zhu Yuanming said, “This is Thousand Faces. Take a look and confirm it. Once you do, I’ll have the Ape King Bracers sent into storage.”
Xu Han picked up Thousand Faces and checked its attributes once more.
Then he nodded. “No problem.”
Zhu Yuanming placed the Ape King Bracers on the tray and stood up. “A pleasure doing business with you, Xu Han.”
“If you ever come across anything good in the future, you’re welcome to exchange it here.”
“I can guarantee you a better price.”
Xu Han nodded.
Then he left the office.
He put Thousand Faces on his face.
Though it was a mask, it was so thin it felt almost like a layer of skin.
Wearing it, he could barely feel anything at all.
With a thought, Thousand Faces faded away, revealing his own features.
Xu Han nodded in satisfaction.
He had really struck gold.
Next, he would go back and eat the Black-Armor Dragon’s meat to see what new skill he could obtain.
Leaving the exchange office, he headed straight back to his dormitory.
At that very moment, in an office in one of the school buildings, Lei Hongguang sat at his desk, staring darkly at the footage on the screen.
The recording showed Xu Han’s performance in the secret realm.
“So the person I ran into that day was Xu Han,” Lei Hongguang murmured.
“Looks like this kid has been making quite a name for himself at school.”
“I heard the dean of the Beast Research Institute has already taken him in as a disciple.”
“If I want to get rid of him, it’ll take some effort.”
“I can start by building a relationship with him. Once we’re closer, I’ll find a way to deal with him!”
At that thought, a glint of cold light flashed in Lei Hongguang’s eyes, and a frosty smile curved his lips.
