Chapter 121: Immune to Curses

Shui Lingyao stood among the crowd.
Her water-blue eyes were fixed on the giant screen, and the worry in them was impossible to conceal.
She and Shui Xuelan had chosen the first level.
Even so, they had already begun to struggle upon reaching the thirteenth floor.
They had been unable to hold on past the fifteenth floor and were forced to withdraw.
She knew all too well how powerful the exotic beasts farther ahead were.
They were all elite monsters, and beyond them were even leader-class exotic beasts.
Let alone freshmen—even many powerful upperclassmen had fallen there.
Xu Han had reached the sixteenth wave of the second floor of the Exotic Beast Tower all by himself. His strength had already earned everyone’s recognition.
And now they wanted him to clear the entire second floor.
That was simply asking the impossible.
“Is there really… no other way?” Shui Xuelan tugged gently at her sister’s clothes and said softly, “Sister…”
Shui Lingyao clenched her silver teeth and gripped her staff tightly. “I’m going to find the dean! I’m going in to help him!”
With that, she started toward the front of the plaza.
Shui Xuelan hurriedly grabbed her sister. “Sister, calm down!”
“The dean and the others surely don’t want this either…”
Shui Lingyao bit down lightly on her red lips. Her body trembled faintly, and tears shimmered in her eyes.
“Are we really supposed to just… watch Xu Han die in front of everyone?”
Shui Xuelan fell silent.
She raised her head and looked toward that slightly frail figure. “Maybe… Xu Han can succeed…”
…
When Xu Han heard Night Butterfly’s words, a helpless smile appeared on his face.
His luck really was something else.
Other people had challenged the Exotic Beast Tower dozens of times without encountering any problems.
The moment it was his turn, something had to go wrong.
He really ought to buy a lottery ticket.
Still, he quickly adjusted his mindset and continued asking, “Teacher, what’s the good news?”
Night Butterfly said, “The good news is… without Safe Mode, there are no restrictions.”
“You can summon pets to help you.”
“In short… everything depends on you now…”
“You must come out alive.”
By the end, Night Butterfly’s voice had gradually grown heavy.
Even she did not believe Xu Han could clear the second floor of the Exotic Beast Tower alive.
It was simply too difficult.
Unless a miracle occurred, there was barely any chance.
But…
Would a miracle really happen?
Yet Xu Han’s heart leaped with delight.
Since he could summon pets—

—he would not be fighting alone.
Little Tiger and Little Eagle could come out and help him as well.
His gaze filled with determination. “Don’t worry, Teacher. I’ll definitely come out alive!”
As soon as his voice fell, a flash of white light appeared in the center of the arena.
A large group of exotic beasts resembling dwarves, clad in tattered mage robes, appeared in the middle of the arena.
A layer of pale golden radiance covered Xu Han’s eyes.
Information about the exotic beasts surfaced.
[Name: Curse Mage (Elite)]

[Weaknesses: Lightning Element, Light Element]
The moment the spectators saw the Curse Mages, their expressions changed.
“It’s that disgusting group again.”
“Curses are the worst. They reduce all your attributes, and then they stack Weaken on top of that. You can’t even walk afterward.”
“This time, Xu Han is really in trouble.”
Worry filled everyone’s eyes.
Xu Han, however, wore a faint smile.
A curse?
That was precisely what he feared the least!
His body had already transformed into a Dark Body, granting him immunity to all negative status effects.
What could a mere curse possibly do to him?
In his eyes, these Curse Mages were nothing more than lambs awaiting slaughter.
He raised his hand, and lightning gathered in his palm.
Chain Lightning!
With a sweep of his hand, the lightning transformed into two terrifying serpents of electricity and thundered toward the Curse Mages.
Boom!
Several Curse Mages were struck by the Chain Lightning. Their bodies convulsed as wisps of black smoke rose from them.
The Curse Mages in the rear raised their staffs one after another.
Gray light gathered at the tips of their staffs.
Then the gray rays shot toward Xu Han in unison.
Xu Han showed no intention of dodging.
Instead, he charged straight into the incoming curse light.
Every spectator’s expression changed dramatically.
“Has Xu Han gone mad? He isn’t even dodging?”
“That’s Curse Light! Once it hits you, you’ll be cursed. Does he not know that, or is he simply too stubborn to dodge?”
“Ah, young people really are young people. They have no idea how serious this is.”
The crowd sighed in dismay.

Once struck by Curse Light, a person might not suffer physical injury, but their attributes would be drastically reduced, leaving them unable to evade the attacks that followed.
It was practically no different from being dead.
Even Zheng Gang’s expression darkened. “What is that kid Xu Han doing? Is he trying to get himself killed?”
Night Butterfly, however, remained expressionless. “No.”
“He’s perfectly calm.”
“I think… he has a way to deal with the curse.”
On the giant screen, several rays of curse light landed on Xu Han.
As the curse light faded, Xu Han’s speed did not decrease. Instead, he became even faster.
In practically the blink of an eye, he arrived in front of the Curse Mages.
Chain Lightning struck again.
Boom!
An ear-piercing peal of thunder rang out.
The Curse Mage closest to him was blasted through the air and slammed heavily into the wall.
Several Curse Mages nearby were caught in the Chain Lightning as well, and the skills they were casting were interrupted.
Xu Han did not stop.
He raised his palm, and a blazing fireball rapidly gathered in it.
Explosive Fireball!
He thrust his palm forward.
The fireball shot straight toward the Curse Mages.
Scorching heat, wrapped in waves of fire, spread in every direction, effortlessly scattering the Curse Mages’ formation.
Xu Han then drew the Frostblue Edge, transformed into a fleeting shadow, and charged at the Curse Mages.
In barely any time at all, he cut down every one of them.
From beginning to end, it had taken less than three minutes.
The entire plaza erupted in uproar.
“Could it be that their curses are ineffective against Xu Han?”
“That must be it. Otherwise, how would he dare take Curse Light head-on?”
“This guy really has something. With strength like that, he’s probably more powerful than ordinary sophomores and juniors, isn’t he?”
…
Zheng Gang, standing at the very front, took a long while to recover from his shock.
At last, he slowly asked, “You already knew that Xu Han was immune to curses?”
Night Butterfly shook her head, her expression still impassive as she watched the giant screen.
Yet the corners of her lips curved upward slightly.
“I didn’t know.”
“This little fellow has given me quite a few surprises as well.”
Zheng Gang sighed. “If he comes out alive, would you let me have him?”
Night Butterfly gave him a deep look and uttered two words:
“Dream on.”
