Chapter 34: Who Is the Hero Who Saved the City?
Within Donghai City.
Many people glanced up at the clock on the wall.
Only five minutes remained before the half-hour deadline.
Li Zhentian spoke in a grave tone, “Did the surveillance cameras catch those two returning?”

Now they were in trouble.
Those two had vanished without a trace.

He turned and strode straight up onto the city wall.
The Earth-Splitting Tiger King swept him with its golden gaze. “Did you find my child?”
Li Zhentian shook his head slowly. “The ones who stole your child might still be outside the city.”
The Tiger King narrowed its eyes and snorted coldly. “Despicable humans!”
“You think I’ll believe your excuses?”
“Lying is what you humans do best!”
“My child must be inside the city!”
“Since you refuse to return my child, then I’ll lead my followers and tear Donghai City apart myself!”
“I refuse to believe I won’t find my child!”
All the beasts began to advance, preparing to storm the city.
Panic filled the eyes of the people.
“It’s over! The beasts are attacking the city…”
“We’re doomed… With so many beasts outside, there’s no way we can hold them off!”
“I heard the main headquarters in Zhenhai already sent experts to help—maybe there’s hope?”
“Hope my ass! By the time those experts arrive, I’ll have been digested and shat out by the beasts!”

Li Zhentian’s face changed slightly and he called out, “Wait!”

Rage burned in the Tiger King’s eyes. It raised a massive paw and slammed it down onto the ground.
Boom!
The earth shook violently, as if struck by a small earthquake.
“Attack! Destroy Donghai City!”
All the beasts howled and charged at Donghai City.
Li Zhentian’s eyes hardened as he shouted, “Everyone, prepare for battle!”
“For your parents and your children!”
“None of us want to see our loved ones whom we live with day after day, our friends with whom we once laughed and talked, become food in the mouths of these beasts, do we?”
The once-frightened and panicked soldiers fell silent at once.
In their hearts, images of their families and friends surfaced.
They imagined the city falling, their loved ones chased, torn apart, and devoured by monsters…
Rage flared in every heart; blood surged.
One by one, they gripped their weapons tightly, eyes filling with steely resolve!
Seeing the restored morale, Li Zhentian continued.
“For them, we must stop these beasts outside the walls!”
“We cannot allow them to set foot in Donghai City!”
“Yes!”
The entire army roared as one, their voices thundering like a storm.
The Earth-Splitting Tiger King looked at the city guard in disdain.
To it, these humans were nothing but food.
The only real obstacle was the city wall.
Once the wall was breached and the beasts charged in, the fall of Donghai City would be only a matter of time!
Just as it prepared to act personally and shatter the city wall—
A familiar presence suddenly drifted in from afar.
It whipped its head around, eyes filled with shock and joy.
“Cease the attack!”
Just as the beasts at the front were about to reach the base of the wall,
The Tiger King’s roar rang out.
All the beasts stopped, looking back at their king in confusion.
They didn’t understand.
Why had their king suddenly called off the attack?
Even Li Zhentian and his men were baffled.
Still, he waved his hand and ordered, “No one is to act without my command. Any violators will be dealt with under military law!”
Everyone put away their weapons.
But their eyes remained fixed warily on the beasts below.
The Tiger King turned toward the distance, excitement blazing in its eyes.
It roared, “Withdraw! Return to the lair!”
With that, its massive form thundered off into the distance,
quickly vanishing into the forest.
Obeying the Tiger King’s order,
the beasts, poised to storm the city, turned in unison and retreated toward the woods.
Soon, the vast horde, as boundless as a sea, disappeared from sight.
Li Zhentian and the others looked at each other in utter bewilderment.
Chen Gang frowned, puzzled. “That’s strange.”
“Why did the Tiger King leave?”
Li Zhentian quickly caught the key point. “I think the Tiger King sensed its child’s presence and hurried off to find it.”
The others nodded in agreement.
But Chen Gang remained confused. “Those two men in black were clearly after the Tiger King’s child.”
“They even brought a special cage to mask its scent.”
“Could the cage have failed?”
Li Zhentian shook his head. “No, they were too well prepared for it to fail so easily.”
“I suspect they ran into some expert who took the cage from them and released the Tiger King’s child!”
Relief showed on everyone’s faces.
“Thank goodness for that expert. Otherwise, Donghai City would have fallen today, and who knows how many would have died…”
“Indeed, with so many beasts coming in, we’d never have held them off.”

Tang Mimi said with curiosity, “I really wonder what this hero looks like?”
As everyone speculated about the mysterious savior of Donghai City,
The Earth-Splitting Tiger King had already reached the outskirts of Mulin Town.
Its enormous form stood as tall as the surrounding buildings.
Its golden eyes slowly swept the area.
At last, its gaze settled on a young man.
The young man sat cross-legged on a large rock, cradling a golden kitten in his arms.
He held a piece of roast meat in his hand, teasing the little golden cat.
Man and cub, playing together with pure delight.
