A sudden thought stirred in Zhang Xiaofan’s mind—Murong Feng had uncovered something. It was highly likely that the dormitory massacre was connected to this red envelope game. After all, according to Xu Xiuli, an entire dormitory had perished back then. Such a significant event leaving no trace of news—it resembled what they were experiencing now.

The old staff dormitory was long abandoned, situated on the outskirts of the school. Its dilapidated gate and shattered windows announced years of neglect. Murong Feng sat alone on a motorcycle, smoking by the entrance.

Seeing Zhang Xiaofan approach, he offered a cigarette, but Zhang waved it off and asked, “What did you find out?”

“There’s a heavy aura of resentment here,” Murong Feng said, gesturing toward the dormitory.

“What do you mean? Did someone die here too?”

“Didn’t the homeroom teacher tell you? There was a massacre here.”

“What? Are you saying the dormitory massacre happened here?” Zhang Xiaofan exclaimed in shock.

“I was shocked when I learned about it too.” Murong Feng pulled a file from his bag and said, “According to the records, this old staff dormitory wasn’t always for staff. Seven or eight years ago, it was a student dormitory.”

“So the massacre took place here?”

“Exactly. Look at this.” Murong Feng showed a document labeled: “Case File—Dormitory Massacre—Students Brutally Killed.”

The file looked old, containing several pages. Zhang Xiaofan eagerly flipped through them. The report briefly described the incident without explaining the cause, only mentioning many students had died.

Following that were names and photos of the deceased, along with their addresses and contact details from that year.

“Since that massacre, deaths have been frequent at the school. I suspect the ghost behind the red envelope group is connected to this event,” Murong Feng said.

Zhang Xiaofan suddenly recalled Baihua Village and asked, “Did any of these people live in Baihua Village?”

“Here.” Murong Feng handed over a paper, but it only showed a blurry photo of a young woman with a distinctive ponytail.

“It’s the only photo in the file without an address,” Murong Feng explained.

Zhang Xiaofan studied it carefully. “This must be the one from Baihua Village. Someone deliberately erased her records.”

“Regardless, if the ghost purposely erased the photo and data, it means it doesn’t want us to find her. Let’s follow this lead further,” Murong Feng urged.

“By the way, how did you get these files?”

“My family managed to get them.” Murong Feng said, then mounted his motorcycle. “Take your time investigating, but I hope you’ll train harder—you’re too weak!” With that, he revved the engine and left.

Zhang Xiaofan glanced back at the abandoned dormitory. A sudden chill wind swept past, making him shiver. He clutched the file tightly and left.

Back at his dorm, he immediately took out the ancient mirror, hoping to ask Mocha about the night she fought the ghost.

But the moment he held it up, he froze. The mirror had three deep cracks.

“What happened?” Zhang Xiaofan was stunned.

Beside the mirror lay a hastily written note: “Hidden illness erupted; mental energy depleted. I took the Great Restoration Pill and have returned to my former self. Please take good care of me.”

The handwriting was rushed, clearly written in desperation.

Zhang Xiaofan was bewildered. What was going on? Why did she ask him to take care of her?

Peering into the mirror, a timid figure flickered and then stared wide-eyed at Zhang Xiaofan.

“Mocha?” Zhang Xiaofan called out, shocked.

Inside the mirror was indeed a little girl, much younger—almost like Mocha’s childhood self.

The thought unsettled Zhang Xiaofan. He quickly searched the Underworld Marketplace for the Great Restoration Pill and was shocked by what he found.

Great Restoration Pill: A highly toxic medicine. Side effects include a drastic contraction of the user's energy, reverting the body to a childlike state. Must be taken with extreme caution. Its benefit lies in rapid recovery from severe injury, but both the body and memory revert to childhood, requiring time to regain past memories.

“So Mocha took this pill and turned back into a child?”

Zhang Xiaofan looked at the timid girl in the mirror, who appeared about thirteen or fourteen years old. Though her height was unclear, her face already bore some of Mocha’s features—a budding beauty.

“Who are you? And who is Mocha?” the girl finally spoke. She was terrified. Upon waking, she found herself trapped inside a mirror, confronted by a strange boy with an unsettling expression. Who was he?

“Mocha isn’t that you?” Zhang Xiaofan asked.

“My name isn’t Mocha. I’m Qin Xiaoyu,” the girl replied.

“Qin Xiaoyu?” Zhang Xiaofan’s heart sank. “Are you sure? Do you know where you’re from?”

Qin Xiaoyu thought hard, then clutched her head in pain. “I can’t remember.”

“Alright, you should rest.”

“I’m hungry…”

“Didn’t you used to not eat?”

“I’m hungry…” Qin Xiaoyu suddenly appeared before Zhang Xiaofan, about a head shorter than before but with a similarly shapely figure and good looks.

Girls do mature early.

Zhang Xiaofan said, “Remember, don’t come out unless there’s a reason.”

“Oh, but who are you?” Qin Xiaoyu clearly had lost all her memories, her mind seemingly stuck at the level of a three or four-year-old.

“I’m your relative. I’ll take care of you from now on.” After all, Mocha had fought the ghost once and was injured. Zhang Xiaofan felt it necessary to look after her.

“What do you want to eat?” Zhang Xiaofan offered her a bag of chips, but she shook her head, refusing.

Then she pointed at Zhang Xiaofan’s arm and said greedily, “Blood…”

Zhang Xiaofan was horrified. Was he raising a little ghost?

He quickly covered his arm. “What are you saying? You can’t eat blood!”

Tears welled up in Qin Xiaoyu’s eyes; she pouted, almost crying.

“I’m hungry, I’m hungry…”

Her pitiful expression tugged at Zhang Xiaofan’s heart. He hurriedly said, “Alright, do you want pig’s blood?”

“Too greasy.”

“Chicken blood?”

“Too smelly.”

“Dog blood?”

“Dog blood wards off evil. I’d die if I ate that.”

“Mutton blood?”

“Too strong a taste.”

Zhang Xiaofan was utterly flustered. Raising a child was not easy.
