Chapter 20: The Mighty Zhu Kai
Upon seeing the message, Zhang Xiaofan let out a cold sneer and replied, “You can rest assured about that. When the time comes, all you need to do is act as if you’re not helping.”
Song Feng answered, “Alright. Today, I won’t show up, and I guarantee none of my people will go to the classroom.”
“Good,” said Zhang Xiaofan.
Zhang Xiaofan told Wang Hu what Song Feng had said, and the two of them decided unanimously: today, they would deal with Zhu Kai.
When they entered the classroom, their classmates were already whispering among themselves.
“I never expected Zhu Kai to be the killer.”
“Yeah, Xiaofan’s analysis makes sense. It seems that Zhu Kai’s recent chaos in our class was all premeditated.”
Listening to the chatter, Zhang Xiaofan smirked coldly. Time ticked by, and more students gradually arrived.
“Xiaofan, are you confident this time?” Hu Xiaotian and Jiang Jiewei, who had already been told the plan, looked worried.
Zhang Xiaofan said, “Don’t worry, Xiaotian. Wang Hu has invited a real expert today. With him here, there’s absolutely no problem.”
“Hmm, I’m just worried about Zhu Kai’s strength. He’s pretty formidable.”
Zhang Xiaofan nodded, his eyes showing a hint of concern. This time, they had placed all their hopes on Han Dahai’s uncle, a fourth-level Taoist. If their gamble failed, not only Wang Hu, but he and Chen Jing would suffer as well.
Yet Zhang Xiaofan understood the urgency. Zhu Kai had to die, or else Zhang Xiaofan would eventually be eliminated by him.
Thinking this over, Zhang Xiaofan glanced at Murong Feng. If Murong Feng joined them, their plan would be much easier. But he knew Murong Feng was born proud and not easy to approach, so he abandoned that idea.
“In the end, strength is what matters most.”
Zhang Xiaofan opened the Netherworld Taobao app. He had saved over twenty thousand Nether coins. Originally, he intended to save up for a stronger physique, but now, with danger imminent, he couldn’t afford to wait.
He ran to the bathroom and spent all his coins to exchange for the Fire Body constitution. It felt as if a seed of fire had been planted within him, giving him an indescribable sense of exhilaration.
Previously, whenever he used fire, half his body always felt uncomfortable—sometimes he couldn’t even summon his strength. But now, at last, he could wield flames as easily as moving his own arm.
Looking at the few Nether coins he had left, Zhang Xiaofan let out a bitter laugh at how quickly the money was spent.
With the remaining coins, he bought some Spirit Water. He’d wanted to buy this before—its purpose was to quickly replenish spiritual energy when depleted. In fact, many classmates had purchased it already; every cultivator needed it.
Just as he was about to leave the bathroom, Hu Xiaotian messaged him: “Xiaofan, something’s wrong—Zhu Kai is back.”
Zhang Xiaofan’s expression changed and he hurried to the classroom, where he saw Zhu Kai gripping Zhu Liwen’s neck and coldly saying, “Zhu Liwen, you claim your uncle’s a policeman, and found my fingerprints on Ma Biao?”
Zhu Liwen, tall and sturdy as he was, was still easily lifted single-handedly by Zhu Kai.
“Zhu Kai… cough, Kai brother, it’s… a misunderstanding,” Zhu Liwen struggled to say.
“Hmph,” Zhu Kai snorted, sweeping his gaze over the class. “Anyone who thinks I’m the killer can message Bao Lei—provided you’re not afraid to be slapped to death.”
The students paled; none dared try.
Zhang Xiaofan knew that if Zhu Kai kept talking like this, he might just turn the tables.
“Zhu Kai, you’re threatening Zhu Liwen’s life—of course he won’t dare speak. But no matter how you deny it, the facts and evidence are clear. You are the killer.” Zhang Xiaofan entered from the back door and spoke loudly.
“Zhang Xiaofan, I was planning to deal with you in a few days, but I didn’t expect you to deliver yourself so soon,” Zhu Kai said coldly.
“You’ve finally revealed your true colors,” Zhang Xiaofan replied.
“Only a fool would believe you. I bet you and Wang Hu are working together, aren’t you?” Zhu Kai suddenly said. “Is Wang Hu supposed to make his move soon?”
Zhang Xiaofan’s face changed, but he answered calmly, “Wang Hu and I have always been at odds—everyone knows that. Why would I work with him?”
“Denying so quickly? That must mean you are.”
With a casual squeeze, Zhu Kai crushed Zhu Liwen’s skull, then turned his cold gaze towards Zhang Xiaofan. “So that’s why my lackeys and Song Feng’s crew aren’t here today. After reading the group messages, I see now—you two really played a good duet.”
He tossed Zhu Liwen’s corpse aside and strode straight towards Zhang Xiaofan.
“Nobody move! Today, I’m going to deal with Zhang Xiaofan,” Zhu Kai announced arrogantly.
Suddenly, the door was kicked open, and Wang Hu stormed in with a group of people.
“Zhu Kai, drop the act. Today, I’ll expose your true face,” Wang Hu said coldly.
“Wang Hu, don’t take the whole class for fools. You and Zhang Xiaofan are clearly working together. You think we don’t know?” Zhu Kai’s expression turned grim as he saw so many people enter.
“Zhu Kai, last night I secretly checked your phone. You did buy that hundred-thousand-coin constitution. Stop pretending now.” At this moment, Chen Jing, who had been hiding among the crowd, stepped forward.
Zhu Kai was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter. “So that's why my phone shut off for no reason. Chen Jing, you’re the culprit. I get it now—Wang Hu and Zhang Xiaofan have teamed up and betrayed me. Song Feng isn’t here either; I bet he’s hiding on purpose?”
“Zhu Kai, this time we’ll expose you.”
“Hmph, just the likes of you? I, Zhu Kai, hail from a Taoist family—my strength is not something you little fish can compare to.” As he spoke, a massive surge of spiritual energy erupted from him, smashing fiercely toward Wang Hu.
“Ah…” The students recoiled in fear. Wang Hu’s eyes flashed as he tried to block, but was instantly sent flying.
“Senior, please help!” Wang Hu called out in shock.
“A mere third-level Taoist dares to be arrogant? Watch how I deal with you.” At the doorway, a man in a suit appeared, with Han Dahai following behind him.
Chen Jing hurried to Han Dahai’s side and whispered, “Dahai, you’re finally here.”
“Don’t worry. With my uncle here, Zhu Kai will be easily subdued.” Han Dahai, though ugly and short, had an uncle who was a genuine fourth-level Taoist; Chen Jing had always tried to curry favor with him, and now it finally paid off.
“Uncle, please take care of this,” Han Dahai said to his uncle.
“Mm, rest assured.” The man took out a compass-like object and said coldly, “Zhu Kai, is it? This time, your soul is mine…”
