Chapter 30: The Despair of Zhang Xiaofan (an extra chapter for helmsman unflycat0)
The more painfully and cruelly everyone behaved, the worse Zhang Xiaofan felt. Just thinking that Su Qianqian and Lin Rou would soon be like this too made him want to smash these machines to pieces at once.
But he could not. He knew the ghost lurking behind the scenes would be delighted if he did exactly that. Once he acted on it, the ghost would have a perfect excuse to deal with him.
At that moment, Xu Zhong shouted, "Cut off my hand! I don't want to die. I want out of this game."
Not far away, one of Xu Zhong's closest friends pulled an axe from beneath the desk, an axe they had carried with them these past few days, and gritted out, "Xu Zhong, are you sure?"
Staring at the giant saw blade just inches away, Xu Zhong was utterly terrified. Wide-eyed, he shouted, "Duan Zhibai, damn it, cut it off already!"
Duan Zhibai's eyes turned fierce. In the next instant, he lifted the axe high and brought it down hard.
A scream rang out.
Xu Zhong's left wrist, the one gripping the handle, was brutally severed. Blood gushed from the broken wrist. An ordinary person would likely have fainted from fright long ago, but now was the moment of life and death. Xu Zhong did not dare slow down even for a second. Enduring the searing pain, he quickly lurched to the right.
The next instant, the saw blade came to a stop exactly where Xu Zhong had just been standing. He panted violently. If he had lingered there even a moment longer, he would have been cut in half.
A chime sounded.
Bao Lei: Life and death are fated; wealth and honor rest with heaven. Kill your opponent to earn a reward of ten thousand nether coins. Do your best!
As the message appeared, Ma Yongxiang suddenly felt the weight in his hands ease, and he was able to move freely as well. He glanced at the message on his phone, then fixed Xu Zhong with a cold, ruthless stare.
By now, the students all understood that the more nether coins they had, the greater their purchasing power. With enough of them, they could buy many powerful physiques and pieces of equipment, so no one was unmoved.
Before Xu Zhong could react, Ma Yongxiang seized the still-spinning cutter, removed the locking clasp, then lifted it and drove it toward Xu Zhong, who had lost a wrist and no longer had much strength to fight back.
"Anyway, without a hand you won't live much longer. You might as well earn me some nether coins and die for me..." Ma Yongxiang said with a vicious expression as he aimed the cutter at Xu Zhong's head.
In the next instant, Xu Zhong, caught completely off guard, had his head sliced off. On his face there was still a trace of relief, as though he were grateful to have escaped disaster.
By then, the cutter had completed its task and come to a stop.
"You bastard, you killed Xu Zhong for ten thousand nether coins?" Duan Zhibai roared, throwing a punch.
After taking the blow, Ma Yongxiang cursed, "He'd lost a hand already. He was going to bleed out sooner or later. Better he earn me some nether coins."
"You bastard!"
"Get lost..."
The two men grappled in a brawl, but no one moved to stop them.
The last group fought with equal difficulty. They were two boys. Although one was sturdier in build, the other seemed to have fused with a special physique, and the power he unleashed was shocking. After a full twenty minutes of deadlock, the boy with the fused physique finally prevailed and pushed the cutter forward.
Sizzle...
Blood sprayed everywhere, flesh scattered in all directions. The floor and ceiling were stained with gore and shredded meat, and many students even had blood spattered across their faces.
A chime sounded.
Bao Lei: Groups one, three, five, and seven have completed their matches. The survivors of each group receive a reward of ten thousand nether coins.
Now, groups two, four, six, and eight, please come forward. The rules are the same as before. Good luck, everyone!
With one foot on Chun Ying's head, Zhang Hua smiled as she picked up her phone and said, "We really got ten thousand nether coins. Not bad."
"Zhang Hua, don't hit me anymore. I was wrong," Zhou Liping said weakly.
"Hmph, fine, fine." At Zhang Hua's command, the little delinquents under her all stopped. Then Zhang Hua kicked Chun Ying hard several times and barked, "Remember this: from now on, your face stays like this. If you dare buy anything for scars, I'll kill you."
Chun Ying's face was covered in blood, clearly scratched beyond recognition, but she still nodded again and again, too afraid to disobey.
"Good. That's more like it. Give me a back rub," Zhang Hua said as she sat down.
Not far away, Zhang Xiaofan suddenly rushed out. He grabbed a chair and smashed it viciously toward the machine.
"Lin Rou, Su Qianqian, don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you!" Zhang Xiaofan shouted with a ferocious look.
"You've lost it, haven't you? Doing that will bring the ghost's punishment down on you," Song Feng said with a cold laugh.
Hu Xiaotian, Jiang Jiawei, and the others were alarmed, but with everything happening so suddenly, there was no time to stop him.
Fortunately, at that moment, Lin Rou and Su Qianqian acted at the same time, each grabbing one side.
"Xiaofan, are you trying to get yourself killed?" Lin Rou scolded.
"Xiaofan, you can't do this." Su Qianqian's expression darkened. Then, as if she had made up her mind, she said to Hu Xiaotian, "Bring me the chain."
Zhang Xiaofan knew exactly what they meant and cried out hoarsely, "No, I can't let anything happen to you! Let go. If I can smash the machine, you'll be safe."
"Wake up. If you smash the machine, something will definitely happen to you," Su Qianqian said sorrowfully.
Lin Rou's face was not looking good either, but the next moment she grabbed Zhang Xiaofan tightly.
There were iron chains in the classroom for locking up equipment. After Hu Xiaotian brought them over, Su Qianqian and Lin Rou worked together to bind Zhang Xiaofan and lock him to the pillar beside the balcony. They chose chains because they knew Zhang Xiaofan had a fire physique, and rope would be useless against him.
"Let go of me! Let go of me..." Zhang Xiaofan shouted until his throat went hoarse. Sweat poured down his face like rain. At that moment, he hated nothing more than his own weakness. He could not even protect his own women. He truly was not a man.
"Xiaofan, stop struggling. I don't blame you," Su Qianqian said, taking a deep breath as though speaking her final words.
Lin Rou also smiled and said, "You're the best man I've ever met."
Truly, at that moment, Zhang Xiaofan was engulfed in despair. Every word those two women spoke pierced his heart like steel needles, leaving him cold to the core. He did not know what to do.
"Mo Sha, Mo Sha, can you save them?" he pleaded inwardly. Though the ancient mirror was back in the dormitory, he knew Mo Sha could still sense his call.
"The battle earlier severely damaged my strength. I'm sorry, but I can't help you..."
With his last hope shattered, Zhang Xiaofan poured out all his strength trying to break free of the chains, but it was useless.
"Tsk, tsk. Who knows which of Su Qianqian and Lin Rou will survive this time."
"Sigh, they're both beauties."
"Zhang Xiaofan's really unlucky. I wonder which one he likes more."
"Obviously he likes both. They're both so stunning."
"True."
The classmates spoke with gleeful schadenfreude. Those close to Zhang Xiaofan could only sigh. Though they wanted to help, the rules of the game stood there like an immovable wall. No one could cross them; the punishments from before were proof enough.
At that moment, the remaining groups took their places. In front of the first machine stood two boys, in front of the second two girls, in front of the third a boy and a girl, and in front of the fourth, Su Qianqian and Lin Rou.
