Zhang Xiaofan’s face changed drastically; he never imagined that Lin Rou would suddenly make a move. Yet almost immediately, he noticed something strange—the attack wasn’t aimed at him, but rather at someone behind him. He dodged aside, and the attack behind him collided with Lin Rou’s, both radiating an icy, chilling power. Zhang Xiaofan quickly stepped back, glanced at the newcomer, and his expression darkened—it was, as expected, Song Feng.

“Lin Rou, weren’t you trying to snatch Zhang Xiaofan? If you kill Su Qianqian, you’ll have no rival,” Song Feng said coldly.

Lin Rou replied, equally cold, “You can look for Su Qianqian, but you’re not allowed to harm Zhang Xiaofan.”

“Fine, then we’ll go. I hope you manage to keep Zhang Xiaofan at bay,” Song Feng sneered, casting a sinister glance at Zhang Xiaofan. With a wave of his hand, he called out, “Follow me.” A group of people dispersed in all directions.

Zhang Xiaofan gritted his teeth. “Lin Rou, I never thought you were this kind of person.”

Lin Rou suddenly smiled mischievously. “Do you really think you could take on so many people just now?”

“What do you mean?” Zhang Xiaofan was taken aback.

“Honestly, you’re so dense. I deliberately blocked you to keep them from targeting you. Now that they’re gone, you can leave,” Lin Rou said.

“So you’re... letting me go.”

“Yes.” Lin Rou’s eyes dimmed, tinged with sadness. “I hate Su Qianqian, but I know that if she were really killed, you’d be devastated. To keep you from suffering, I’ll stand on your side.”

Zhang Xiaofan was at a loss for words. In the end, he nodded firmly. “Thank you, Lin Rou.”

With those words, he turned and headed toward the dormitory building.

Watching Zhang Xiaofan’s retreating figure, Lin Rou sighed. The taste of unrequited love was bitter, but Zhang Xiaofan, rest assured, you’ll be mine sooner or later.

Zhang Xiaofan rushed into the dormitory, grabbed the ancient mirror, and said, “Demonshade, something terrible has happened…”

“I sensed it just now. I advise you not to get involved with Su Qianqian. Some of your classmates possess considerable power now,” Demonshade replied, emotionless.

Zhang Xiaofan roared, “No, I have to save her.”

“With what means?” Demonshade replied coldly.

“You’re here, aren’t you?”

“Your classmates are too many. With my current strength, I can’t take them all on at once. You’d best fend for yourself,” Demonshade shook his head and returned to the ancient mirror.

The last path of escape was severed. Just then, Su Qianqian sent a message: Xiaofan, I’m on the roof above the girls’ restroom. There are so many people outside looking for me. What should I do?

Zhang Xiaofan: Wait, I’m coming to save you.

This time, Zhang Xiaofan was truly furious—he’d lost all reason. He threw down the ancient mirror and dashed toward the restroom.

All around the school—faculty offices, boys’ dorm, girls’ dorm—figures were darting around, all searching for Su Qianqian. The class chat group was in chaos.

“Damn, Su Qianqian is hiding deep.”

“We checked all the first-year classes; she’s not there.”

“I checked the second-year classes too.”

Song Feng: Let’s go look in the cafeteria. Oh, @Wang Hu, you know a lot of first-year guys, right? Call them over and join the search. I’ll get a senior from third-year to help too.

Wang Hu: Sure. When you find her, don’t rush to kill her—let’s do it together.

Song Feng: Of course. Same goes for you.

Zhang Xiaofan glanced at the group chat, his heart filled with murderous intent. These people, desperate to escape the game’s control, had thrown all caution to the wind.

It was obvious that if they found Su Qianqian, they’d kill her in the cruelest ways. That could never be allowed.

Leaving the dorm, Zhang Xiaofan grabbed a baseball cap drying outside, pulled it over his head, and walked along the wall, doing his best not to draw attention.

Meanwhile, in the first and third-year classes, gangs of students began to gather. Third-years were led by someone named Zhu Kai, a close friend of Song Feng. Whenever Song Feng needed backup in first-year, Zhu Kai would step in.

The first-years followed a man named Chen Delong, and after joining up with Wang Hu, they respectfully called him “Big Brother Hu,” clearly under his influence.

They all received Su Qianqian’s photo and began a school-wide search. Zhang Xiaofan was anxious—he had to find Su Qianqian first.

Luckily, it was already late at night. On his way to the restroom, the corridors were empty. He slipped behind the restroom building, where a railing stood. Climbing up, he spotted a small footprint nearby—Su Qianqian must have climbed up here too.

Behind the restroom was a sloped platform, not too high. Zhang Xiaofan gripped the railing and leapt up, climbing onto the roof.

No sooner had he reached the top than a golden attack came streaking toward him. Startled, Zhang Xiaofan hurriedly retreated, narrowly avoiding a fall.

“Xiaofan.” Su Qianqian, clutching a golden pair of scissors, stared in surprise. She rushed over and hugged Zhang Xiaofan tightly. “Sorry, I thought someone was coming up to kill me.”

Zhang Xiaofan comforted her, “Don’t worry, no one can kill you.”

“Xiaofan, if it comes to it… why don’t you kill me?” Su Qianqian suddenly looked up. “Since Bao Lei said that whoever kills me gets to leave the red envelope group, I want it to be you.”

Zhang Xiaofan stared at her in disbelief, his voice stern. “Don’t ever say that.”

Su Qianqian buried her head in his chest, whispering, “Sometimes I’m really grateful to fate for letting me meet you.”

Hearing this, Zhang Xiaofan’s resolve grew stronger—he would not let anything happen to Su Qianqian. He pulled her forward, and from the rooftop, they looked down at a crowd searching below—all strangers from other classes.

“No one in the boys’ restroom.”

“No one in the girls’ restroom either.”

“Damn, where’s this girl Wang Hu wants us to find? She’s really good at hiding.” One student below stood with hands on his hips.

“Forget it. I heard they’re searching the cafeteria next. Let’s go to the sports field instead—might as well take a walk.”

“Yeah, let’s go.”

In the blink of an eye, the crowd dispersed. Zhang Xiaofan breathed a sigh of relief.

For now, things seemed safe. The two of them waited there—if they could make it to dawn, this game would be over.

“Xiaofan, why do you think Bao Lei is targeting me?” Su Qianqian asked, trembling.

Zhang Xiaofan recalled his previous messages with Bao Lei. Bao Lei had discovered Demonshade and felt threatened by it; so he replied, “Demonshade’s real target might be me.”

“What? You?” Su Qianqian gasped.

“Yeah. Let’s not worry about it for now.” Just then, Zhang Xiaofan noticed a message from Shen Fengxing: Xiaofan, where are you? Make sure to hide Su Qianqian well—don’t let anyone find her.
