Chapter 144: The Target—The Silver-Rank Area!

Cai Kun was now running across the grassland alongside four teammates.
To prevent any stampedes, after students passed through the light barrier, they would be teleported to different locations around the grassland’s perimeter.
Thus, he did not see Wang Chen.
His heart was filled with resentment toward Wang Chen. Earlier, Lu Shiyu and Tang Ruotong had teamed up to threaten him, making him lose face in front of his classmates!
All of this was Wang Chen’s doing!
Cai Kun couldn’t understand why Wang Chen, a mediocre life shaman, was so favored by them. What was so special about him?
He was determined to push his points to the top of the leaderboard and trample Wang Chen underfoot, to show Lu Shiyu who truly deserved her favor!
Suddenly, a team approached Cai Kun’s group.
The leader was Meng Liwen.
As she neared, she said, “Cai Kun! How about joining forces with our squad?”
“Hm?” Cai Kun looked puzzled. “Isn’t the maximum team size five? Our team is already full.”
“That’s why I said ‘join forces,’” Meng Liwen whispered. “Don’t be so rigid. The team limit is five, but the class committee never said teams can’t cooperate.”
Meng Liwen gestured to the four people behind her. “These are students my father arranged for me early on—top performers from various schools, all quite capable.”
“If we combine, our battle team will grow to ten, allowing us to tackle larger beast packs.”
Cai Kun hesitated; this seemed like an illegal team-up, but since the rules didn’t explicitly forbid it, it was a gray area.
Seeing his hesitation, Meng Liwen taunted, “You don’t even have that much courage? No wonder Lu Shiyu won’t even glance at you.”
Cai Kun’s face stiffened at her words.
She smirked and added, “If you won’t, I’ll ask Wang Chen. He’s got the guts to accept.”
Cai Kun immediately flushed, “Enough, we’ll join forces!”
He knew this was a provocation tactic, and hearing himself compared to Wang Chen pushed him to jump right into this trap without hesitation.
Meng Liwen laughed triumphantly, “Then it’s settled. Let’s go attack those medium to large beast packs.”
Cai Kun, still steeped in bitterness, said nothing but nodded fiercely.

“Lu, let’s stop circling the outskirts. Other squads have already wiped out small beast packs.”
A boy spoke to Lu Shiyu, who was looking around as if searching for something.
Without glancing at him, Lu Shiyu said, “Wait a bit longer.”
“We really can’t delay anymore. The gap between us and others will only widen,” the boy urged.
“My brother promised that if we reach the top three, he’ll give us a bonus. I’m counting on that money to send my little sister to a better private school!”
“Other classmates also have financial needs,” the boy pleaded. “Shiyu, please, just help us out and start earning points!”
Lu Shiyu stopped, looking at the team following her. Their eyes gleamed with silent hope.
She sighed, “Alright, let’s head inland!”
Turning swiftly, Lu Shiyu dashed deeper into the secret realm; her teammates followed with renewed vigor.
“Sorry, Wang Chen, I couldn’t find you in time,” she thought to herself, “Good luck.”
Meanwhile, Wang Chen’s team was sprinting across the grassland.
Unlike other squads that eagerly pounced on weak beasts like antelope beasts, they avoided such encounters, focusing solely on reaching the silver zone.
When unavoidable, Tang Ruotong swung her longsword, slicing through blocking beasts.
Or Long Wushuang would shoot arrows from afar, killing the beasts instantly.
“Fatty! You’re impressive!” Wang Chen laughed. “Running and shooting so accurately at the same time.”
Long Wushuang chuckled, “All thanks to this Windhunter Bow.”
“Chenzi, you’re the real hero, managing to get me such a good bow.”
“My dad gave me a golden-grade bow before, but it’s nowhere near as good as yours.”
Curious, Long Wushuang asked, “My dad said the Windhunter Bow belongs to the Windhunter clan—they never sell it. How did you get yours?”
“Getting a Windhunter Bow was easy,” Wang Chen smiled faintly. “Simply put, the current leader of the Windhunter clan calls me big brother.”
“Whoa! Seriously?” Long Wushuang was shocked.

Then he twisted his face in frustration and rubbed it painfully. “I really shouldn’t have asked. You just had to show off again!”
Wang Chen laughed heartily. Only when with Fatty did he become so cheerful, like an ordinary youth without burdens weighing on his heart.
Tang Ruotong listened to their easy conversation with a smile, glad to see this lighter side of Wang Chen.
Yet she couldn’t help but worry. “Wang Chen, are we really doing okay? Look, other teams’ points keep rising steadily, but ours only goes up sporadically.”
She summoned the virtual panel, projecting the data before them.
Wang Chen glanced at it casually and smiled. “Don’t worry. Their rate of increase is exactly what I expected. We’ll catch up soon.”
He had explained to Tang Ruotong earlier that his plan to head straight to the silver zone was to avoid wasting energy competing for limited beasts in the bronze zone, which offered low points.
Tang Ruotong had agreed with this idea then.
Now, seeing other teams’ scores climbing rapidly, she was anxious and unsure, prompting her question.
“See, we’re almost there,” Wang Chen said, pointing ahead.
Tang Ruotong followed his gaze.
Sparse trees on the grassland began to thicken, gradually forming a small grove.
The further ahead, the denser and lusher the woods became.
“Once we’re in the forest, the density of beasts will only increase,” Wang Chen reassured. “So far, no other team has reached here. We’ll have exclusive access to these points for a while.”
He smiled mysteriously, “Besides, I have a special monster-farming skill.”
Tang Ruotong blinked, puzzled. “What kind of skill?”
“You’ll see soon enough,” Wang Chen decided to keep it a secret for now.
Hearing this, Long Wushuang quickened his pace toward the forest. “Let’s go! I can’t wait!”
Despite his round figure, he ran almost like he was flying. In a way, the power of speed truly was a divine skill.
Wang Chen and Tang Ruotong exchanged smiles and quickly followed suit.
