Chapter Seventy-six: Is He Angry Now?
Ye Zuo lowered his head, his voice faint and dispirited. “I… I needed to get a diamond, but the mission failed, and… I got hurt as well.”
“A diamond? That’s easy!”
Shangguan Renran took off her blue crystal hairpin and pried off the three blue diamonds embedded in it.
“Here, will these do?”
“You… you’re just giving them to me like this?”
“Of course. We’re family, aren’t we?”
Ye Zuo murmured, “Family, you say?”
Shangguan Renran packed up the items in the first aid kit, leaving the ointment for him. “Remember to apply it when you bleed, okay? I’ll head back now. Don’t tell Grandpa about tonight, especially about me sneaking out over the wall.”
Ye Zuo held the ointment and looked up at her. Her flaxen hair brushed her shoulders, and though her crystal hairpin now lacked three tiny diamonds, it still looked beautiful on her head. He parted his lips slightly and replied, “Alright, I won’t tell anyone.”
The petite girl repeated her earlier action, climbing back inside.
The night grew even darker, but Ye Zuo’s heart felt warm, as if the pain in his wounds had faded away.
He opened his palm. The three blue diamonds shimmered, casting the only glow in the darkness, seeming to illuminate his soul.
They also pointed the way for fifteen-year-old Ye Zuo, giving him purpose and hope: from now on, he would devote himself to protecting his mistress.
Ye Xin spoke softly, “So… the young lady should remember you, right?”
“Perhaps.”
“Have you ever thought of telling her that you’re the brother who helped her when she was little?”
“Why tell her? I think things are just fine as they are.”
Simply being by her side was already the best thing.
Ye Xin sighed, “Yes, this is already very good.”
…
Shangguan Renran carried her rosy purse. She wore a pale pink Chanel-style jacket, a blouse tied with a butterfly bow beneath, a white high-waisted skirt hugging her figure, and pointed blush-colored heels.
She strode with purpose, her flaxen curls swinging, her face touched with urgency. Unintentionally, she revealed a fine figure, radiant and captivating, drawing the attention of everyone in the first-floor lobby.
The receptionist immediately greeted her, “Miss Shangguan!”
Shangguan Renran gestured inside. “May I go in?”
“Of course, as our boss’s girlfriend, you’re always welcome.”

“Still, let’s follow protocol!”
It wouldn’t do to be accused of favoritism.
Everyone…
Would they dare?
The receptionist smiled sweetly. “Thank you, Miss Shangguan, you’re so considerate.”
Previously, she’d thought Shangguan Renran was the aloof beauty type, only to be admired from afar, but now she seemed like a fairy touched by earthly warmth.
She promptly dialed the secretary’s office. “Hello? Assistant Mo? Miss Shangguan is here.”
“Really? Shangguan Renran, Miss Shangguan? That ancestor?”
Mo, on the other end, was instantly excited, prompting Mo Nine and Mo Ten nearby to look over.
Once they heard Mo was talking about Shangguan Renran, they stood up at once, eyes fixed on the phone as if trying to read its secrets.
“Yes, that’s right. Miss Shangguan can go up, correct?”
“Yes, yes, let her come up at once,” Mo hung up.
Mo Nine looked at him, “Is it really Miss Shangguan?”
“Of course! That ancestor is finally here. Great, I’ll go report inside, you two go downstairs to greet her.”
Mo Ten sprang into action. “Alright, we’ll go.”
Ever since their master had smashed something inside, he hadn’t come out for ages, and they didn’t dare enter; they hadn’t even eaten yet.
They were just about to debate who should go in, when this ancestor arrived. Now they wouldn’t have to endure their master’s deathly stare. Tears of joy!
“Miss Shangguan can go up now.”
“Thank you.”
The receptionist waved her hand, “It’s no trouble at all.”
Shangguan Renran walked toward the elevator. As soon as she reached the top floor, Mo Nine and Mo Ten came to greet her.
Mo knocked happily on the conference room door.
“Get lost,” came a furious shout from inside.
“Boss, Miss Shangguan is here. She’ll be up any moment.”
Bang—the door flew open, nearly hitting Mo.

“Who did you say is here?” Huang Pu Shenqing’s face was expressionless, his tone betraying no joy.
But Mo could sense a subtle difference from before. “Miss Shangguan. She’s downstairs already, probably on her way up now.”
“Is that so? Let her come, then.” Huang Pu Shenqing retreated inside, his gaze somewhat unnatural.
Mo…
Don’t think I can’t hear the delight in your voice!
How does one deal with someone who’s both reserved and proud?
Waiting online for answers—quite urgent.
Shangguan Renran looked at the two men before her, slightly puzzled. “And you are?”
“I’m Mo Nine, he’s Mo Ten. We’re here to welcome Miss Shangguan.”
“Thank you. Where’s Mo?”
“He’s gone to report to the master. If you need anything, you can entrust it to us as well.”
Mo Ten chimed in, “Yes, we can help too.”
Shangguan Renran asked quietly, “So… is your master angry right now?”
“He’s been angry for a long time, hasn’t even had lunch. It seems to be because of some message,” Mo Nine replied, repeating what Mo had said, though he didn’t mention whose message it was.
Mo Ten nudged him lightly. Are you stupid? Isn’t it obvious? Surely it’s because of Miss Shangguan—otherwise, would she come here in person?
“Huh? He hasn’t eaten lunch?”
It was already around noon. Had he been angry since ten in the morning?
“Could you help order a meal downstairs? I’ll eat with him soon.”
“Of course, right away.”
“Thank you.”
“No trouble at all, not one bit.”
Mo Nine and Mo Ten immediately went to a nearby five-star hotel and brought back a selection of specialty dishes.
