Chapter Sixty-five: The Four Great Powers of the World
One after another, the two mighty figures made their entrance.
There is an old saying that meeting in person seldom lives up to a reputation, but when Bai Cinan truly stood before them, this group realized what it meant for reality to surpass renown.
Powerful, fierce, domineering, and savage!
An overwhelming aura surged relentlessly from him, so intense that their skin tingled with pain—a visceral fear of Bai Cinan, this unparalleled force never before seen.
For those who had undergone genetic modification, the terror was even more profound, as if from the depths of their souls—a sensation that Bai Cinan was a lifeform of a higher order than themselves.
Instinctively, these modified martial artists felt compelled to submit before Bai Cinan; the more extensive their modifications, the stronger this urge became. Some even felt a strange pull from the earth, as if it beckoned them to kneel.
To bow before this peerless giant!
The instant this sensation arose, everyone sensed something was wrong. They retreated in a flash, averting their gaze from Bai Cinan.
With the increasing distance, the feeling gradually diminished, yet even a hundred meters away, a vague sense of it lingered.
In battle, such a sensation could prove fatal. Even if their strength were merely “somewhat” less than Bai Cinan’s, or even equal, without overcoming this instinct, defeating him would be impossible.
“Damn it! There’s clearly a flaw in Blue Dream Corporation’s genetic modification!” a burly man with long, sinewy arms and a face shadowed in red, like the mark of a claw, muttered.
“Foolish clowns,” Bai Cinan finally shifted his gaze from Mingyue, glancing coldly at the furious fighters around him. “Blue Dream’s modifications are, for now, without issue. With their current technology, they still cannot tamper with such ancient science.”
A gentle breeze swept by. The Saint King Mingyue, who had been floating in midair, now descended lightly to the ground. Frowning, he glanced at Bai Cinan and explained, “In the animal kingdom, might makes right. Following and submitting to the strong is an instinct deeply rooted in their genes. The more modifications one undergoes, the stronger this instinct becomes. If all are on equal footing, it matters little, but if one being stands far above the rest, this instinct is naturally awakened.”
“It’s like how ordinary people, even without sensing any aura or seeing a drastic change in form, instinctively feel fear in the presence of fighters.”
“So you’re saying Bai Cinan is an entire realm above us? Doesn’t that make him the legendary King of the Century?”
“The King of the Century doesn’t have such targeted power. After two years of silence, it seems, Bai Cinan, you’ve taken another step forward on the path of martial sorcery,” mused the Saint King Mingyue—perhaps there was no need to wait for Heaven’s will after all.
But Blue Dream himself was not present. If Blue Dream wasn’t killed, sooner or later, he would create a second or third Bai Cinan.
Mingyue pondered whether to play his final card and bury Bai Cinan here. Yet that card could only be used once; after this, there might never be such a perfect opportunity again.
“Mingyue, you talk too much. Why bother with these foolish clowns? They’re nothing but ants swept along by the current,” Bai Cinan said coldly, turning away as his mood soured even further, barely mustering the energy for words. “You focus so much on the insignificant that you overlook what truly matters.”
What?
A martial sorcerer’s senses far surpassed those of their peers, but distracted by planning their next move, they had been slow to notice. With Bai Cinan’s reminder, the two guests who made no effort to conceal their presence were instantly detected.
There!
Mingyue’s head snapped around. At the very edge of his perception, he sensed two figures, their auras unconcealed.
As if realizing they were being watched, the two turned abruptly, and a wave of spiritual will surged toward Mingyue’s mind.
Thoughts crossed faster than light itself—no delay whatsoever—as a ferocious giant shark and a soaring great bird crashed into Mingyue’s consciousness!
Damn!
He barely had time to think before, mustering his last ounce of strength, Mingyue shouted, “Masters!”
“What?” Instantly, every fighter around reacted, looking in the same direction as Bai Cinan and Mingyue. Though they lacked the two’s extraordinary perception, at this moment, none was needed.
With their own eyes, they witnessed a sight that defied belief.
“How is this possible?”
In the blink of an eye, a colossal wave, nearly a hundred meters high—a cataclysm linking sea and sky—rose on the horizon.
If it had been ordinary people, they could only resign themselves to disaster. But these fighters standing on solid ground were anything but ordinary; their extraordinary strength allowed them to see the truth.
There, atop the monstrous wave, stood two figures—arms crossed, their presence both divine and demonic.
No words were needed, no judgment required. From a single glance, it was clear how powerful these newcomers were.
A raw, unadulterated might that transcended humanity!
Among the fighters present, there were those who had practiced secret arts to harness the power of heaven and earth, amplifying their strength threefold, fivefold, even tenfold in special locations.
Yet, no matter how deeply they mastered such arts, no matter how mighty, even if several joined forces, they could only command a fifty-meter wave at most, and only for a few hundred meters at range.
The more one relied on the powers of heaven and earth, the less one’s own strength contributed, and the longer one tried to control it, the more exponentially draining it became.
But to control a hundred-meter wave, with no aid from storms, earthquakes, tsunamis, or hidden currents—merely two people—this bordered on myth, as though the Sea God himself had descended.
Shock lasted but an instant. There are always greater powers in the world; just because you cannot accomplish something does not mean others cannot. The fighters understood this truth well.
So, after their moment of astonishment, they immediately displayed their skills and sought the best ways to escape—some plunged underground, others raced toward volcanic craters…
And perhaps because they had never imagined anyone stronger than themselves, and because the Saint King Mingyue was the first to sense this fierce assault and warn the others, he now found himself momentarily incapable of resistance. In that instant, as disaster loomed, everyone scattered like frightened birds, and not one spared a thought to rescue Mingyue.
Thus, as the colossal wave engulfed all warships, irresistibly and unstoppably crashing down, only Bai Cinan remained by the side of the just-recovering Saint King Mingyue.
“What a splendid gift! Master, junior brother!” Bai Cinan laughed, seemingly unconcerned. The jagged war markings on his face grew brighter. “Without realizing it, you two have reached such heights…”
