Chapter 47: The Swapping of Elder Yao's Identity!
At this moment, standing within the system space was a single person—our protagonist, Qian Mo.
“Now that my two little wives are settled, and I’ve explained everything that needed explaining, I can finally relax,” Qian Mo muttered, glancing around to see if anything had been left behind.
“System, do I currently have one opportunity to travel to any world of my choosing?” Qian Mo asked once more for confirmation.
“Yes, dear Host,” the system replied alluringly.
“Let me think… Which world should I visit for some fun?” Qian Mo pondered, resting his chin thoughtfully on his hand.
“Well then, Host, let the system know once you’ve decided,” the system responded.
Qian Mo’s thoughts wandered back to his previous life, recalling various worlds—some exciting, some detestable, some brimming with treasures.
“System, if I don’t use that opportunity now, can I save it for later?” Qian Mo inquired after a long moment of deliberation.
“Yes, you may,” the system answered.
“Then I’ll save it for later. I remember I still have a Dad-Nurturing Ticket I haven’t used. I’ll use that instead,” Qian Mo recalled.
“System, change the Dad-Nurturing Ticket to a Disciple-Nurturing Ticket. I want to stir things up in the continent of Battle Qi! If I, instead of the old man in Xiao Yan’s ring, were to take his place, who knows what would happen? It would surely be interesting!” Qian Mo grinned mischievously.
“Modification complete. Does the host wish to use the Disciple-Nurturing Ticket now?” came the system’s voice.
“Of course!”
“Disciple-Nurturing Ticket used successfully. Please select the world, the person to nurture, and your identity.”
The system sounded again.
“The world of Battle Through the Heavens. Xiao Yan. The old man Yao Chen within Xiao Yan’s ring!”
“Ticket used successfully! Initiating transmigration!”
“Because Yao Chen is inherently a soul, the system has altered the world’s trajectory: those who previously recognized Yao Chen’s body will now remember the host’s appearance. This time, the host’s soul will transmigrate—you will experience no adverse effects.”
“What about my body? Will I be able to retrieve it in the Battle Qi world?” Qian Mo asked anxiously. Though he had read soul-transmigration novels in his past life, experiencing it firsthand was another matter, and he couldn’t help but worry.
“Rest assured, dear Host. If you choose a living body, your body will transmigrate with you. But since the one you chose is a soul, the system will have your soul replace Yao Chen’s position. If you wish to return to your body, just inform the system.”
The system’s reassurance put Qian Mo at ease.
“Good! Then let's set out!” Qian Mo raised his hand and waved forward.
...
Battle Through the Heavens World
Inside Xiao Yan’s ring
A humming sound echoed—
Qian Mo, whose soul had just been exchanged in, emerged.
The space within the ring was bathed in white, with all sorts of items floating around: gold coins, cultivation techniques, and miscellaneous odds and ends, all belonging to the child of this world.
At the center of the space lay a soul body—the very one he’d become. He looked remarkably young, or rather, he was young. The hem of his white robe hovered slightly above the ground.
“Hmm? Where is this?” Qian Mo’s voice echoed faintly within the space.
His mind was still a bit muddled, perhaps not yet fully adjusted to the transmigration. After a moment, he spoke: “So, I am now Yao Chen. And this is my ring? Well, it should be the original Yao Chen’s ring. There must be a trove of treasures in here!”
He raised his hand, gazing at his ethereal body. “So this is a soul form? Fascinating! If people from my past life saw this, nine out of ten would be scared to death.”
Suddenly, the system’s voice resounded in his mind: “Host, you have arrived in the Battle Through the Heavens world. Replacement complete! Here is the nurturing interface.”
Nurturing Interface
Name: Yao Chen (Qian Mo)
Level: Peak Battle Emperor
Disciple candidate: Xiao Yan
Techniques: None
“The host has a nurturing gift pack. Would you like to open it?” the system asked.
“Yes, open it!” Qian Mo replied.
“Ding! Congratulations, Host, you have received Emperor’s Seal Technique, Heaven-Burning Kill, a compendium of disciple cultivation manuals, an upgrade pill, and a bundle of Heavenly Flames.”
Nurturing Interface
Name: Yao Chen (Qian Mo)
Level: Peak Battle Emperor
Disciple candidate: Xiao Yan
Techniques and Items: Emperor’s Seal Technique, Heaven-Burning Kill, a bundle of Heavenly Flames, a compendium of disciple cultivation manuals, an upgrade pill, Old Yao’s ring.
“If you nurture the child of this world to the level of Battle Emperor, the mission will be deemed complete. Upon completion, the host will obtain a ticket at the corresponding level and all the items. If you fail, you receive nothing. During this period, you may use the system shop; all other features are disabled.” The system’s cold voice reminded Qian Mo.
(Note: Each ticket may be used only once per thousand years.)
“It seems the rewards are granted only after a long journey, but they are indeed generous. Being able to use the system shop is more than enough,” Qian Mo remarked lightly.
“System, has the plot begun?” he inquired.
“This is the time when Xiao Yan is beginning his cultivation,” the system responded.
Hearing this, Qian Mo stroked his chin thoughtfully. “So, this is the start of his cultivation. In other words, Yao Chen hasn’t absorbed his Battle Qi yet. If I don’t drain his Battle Qi and become his master, just how strong will he become?”
In the original story, Xiao Yan reached the Dou Practitioner stage at the age of ten, but reverted back to Dou Qi Level Three after Old Yao absorbed his energy. Now, with Qian Mo in place and not absorbing Xiao Yan’s Battle Qi, the plot would change dramatically. If he nurtured Xiao Yan, his cultivation would soar.
Outside
At this time, Xiao Yan was just five years old—though his soul was that of a grown man.
“This is a continent where strength is revered. I must begin cultivating now. My mother is dead; only my father remains,” this person, none other than the child of this world, Xiao Yan, declared.
“I’ve been granted another chance at life; I must not squander it. I will make my name known across the continent,” Xiao Yan vowed, clenching his fist with determination.
“But… how do I cultivate?” Though his resolve was firm, Xiao Yan was at a loss as to how to begin.
This was the perfect moment for Qian Mo to make his entrance.
“Little one, do you wish to cultivate?”
A mature voice rang out, jolting Xiao Yan from his thoughts.
“Who’s there? What manner of demon are you?” Xiao Yan assumed a defensive stance, warily scanning his surroundings.
“Do you have the determination to cultivate? Following me will be arduous,” Qian Mo said calmly, his figure gradually materializing in the ring.
“I do!” Xiao Yan replied instinctively at the sound of the voice.
He then saw a soul body in a white robe float from the ring—a grown man hovering in mid-air.
“A ghost! A ghost!” Though Xiao Yan’s soul was from another world, he instantly recognized what this being was and shouted in terror.
“Ghost? Who are you calling a ghost, you rascal!” Qian Mo restrained himself and gave Xiao Yan a light smack.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to cultivate? I can help you, but you must acknowledge me as your master! My name is ‘Master Yao.’” Qian Mo placed his hands behind his back and looked up at the sky.
“You needn’t know my story yet. Just know that I won’t harm you. When your cultivation is sufficient, I’ll tell you everything,” Qian Mo continued.
Seeing that the soul had no intention of harming him, Xiao Yan breathed a sigh of relief.
“Senior Yao, if I acknowledge you as my master, will you really teach me to cultivate?” he asked hesitantly, standing up.
“Yes,” Qian Mo replied coolly.
Xiao Yan made up his mind—this imposing figure was surely powerful. This was a chance he must seize. So, he knelt and bowed to Qian Mo.
“Good! You possess both fire and wood attributes—a promising talent for alchemy,” Qian Mo said deliberately.
“From now on, address me as Master. And before you become strong, do not reveal my name to anyone,” Qian Mo instructed. He wasn’t afraid, but preferred to maintain an air of mystery—how else could he impress others?
“Yes, Master.”
“Master, may I ask a question?” Xiao Yan inquired cautiously.
“What is it?” Qian Mo responded indifferently.
“Why are you inside the ring my mother gave me?” Xiao Yan asked, genuinely puzzled as to why his mother’s ring would house a soul.
“It’s nothing special—perhaps I was too handsome, and those strong cultivators were jealous. They joined forces and killed me! Luckily, my soul was powerful enough to escape. I wager those fools never imagined that, in five to ten years, my body will recover.” Qian Mo spoke narcissistically, the timeline fabricated—if he wished, a word to the system would return his body. But this “five to ten years” conveniently matched Xiao Yan’s period of rapid growth.
“Why do I get the feeling this master of mine isn’t very reliable? Have I boarded a pirate ship?” Xiao Yan wondered silently, watching Qian Mo’s self-absorbed manner.
“Hey! You brat, what’s with that look? Since you’ve become my disciple, be prepared for some tough training! Hahaha! It’s all for your own good, believe me!” Qian Mo squinted mischievously, a sly smile on his lips.
Xiao Yan shuddered at his words. “Oh no, I really have boarded a pirate ship! Should I jump off? …But from the look of him, it seems I can’t get off now… The days ahead will be tough. Still, for the sake of becoming a strong man on this continent, I must endure.” With that, Xiao Yan clenched his fists with resolve.
Qian Mo observed him, a faint smile curving his lips. Having a disciple wasn’t so bad after all. In fact, it felt rather good—the prospect of “teaching” him slowly, little by little, was quite appealing.
