Chapter 71: The Fangs of Nazz (Please Keep Reading)
The summoned creatures around him had resumed their attack, forcing Wu Qi to turn his blade on them. Each one fell with a single stroke, and in just two or three seconds, Wu Qi had cleared the corridor.
[Flash]
[Divine Nova]
Yi Shen seized another opportunity to blink away, healing himself to full in the process. Wu Qi caught a glimpse of this out of the corner of his eye, and nearly coughed up blood in sheer frustration.
How could you be this ridiculous? You even have a self-healing skill too?!
Yet as this thought emerged, Wu Qi found himself oddly reconciled to it. Everything had already reached a level of absurdity; having a healing skill almost seemed reasonable.
Wu Qi: “...”
Yi Shen: “...”
For half a second, the air was thick with awkward silence.
A flash of retreat crossed Wu Qi’s eyes.
He realized this monster might be beyond his ability to handle, and he was suddenly seized by the urge to flee.
Yi Shen, for his part, immediately spotted Wu Qi’s intent. With a flick of his hand, he summoned a new host of elemental creatures and unleashed a restricting skill upon Wu Qi.
This time, almost all of Wu Qi’s skills were on cooldown!
[Fire Bomb] [Flame Burst] [Arcane Explosion]
The stage was set once more for Yi Shen’s performance.
Although Wu Qi downed a potion and used his vanish skill midway through, he still couldn’t withstand Yi Shen’s relentless barrage. Area skills forced him out of stealth in an instant.
His eyes brimmed with confusion and disbelief. How could someone possibly cast such an endless stream of spells?
There was fear there, too, for he could see that Yi Shen intended to finish him off for good!
It had been more than thirty years since the otherworldly invasion, and Wu Qi himself had worked as a bounty hunter for over a decade. He’d seen many rare and hidden classes on his missions, but nothing as outrageous as Yi Shen!
Wu Qi tried to beg for mercy, hoping to buy time until his next forced-movement skill came off cooldown. Yi Shen had no cooldowns, but he certainly did!
But Yi Shen would give him no more chances.
With focused fire, Wu Qi’s health dropped to zero, his face still locked in a look of confusion.
A once-feared figure died in utter bewilderment.
When Wu Qi fell, a purple orb of light appeared from his body. Yi Shen stepped forward to collect it, surprised to find an S-grade piece of equipment among the spoils.
It was possible to gain loot from killing fellow explorers, but the rewards were usually so random that sometimes you’d get nothing but trash from their packs—it was often more reliable to simply rob them and force them to hand over their gear.
This S-grade weapon appeared to be the one Wu Qi had just wielded in combat. In the end, Yi Shen had gotten unexpectedly lucky.
...
[Tooth of Naz]
[Equipment Requirement: Level 60]
[Quality: A]
[Attributes: Strength +3600, Agility +3100, Endurance +3300]
[Special Effect 1: On hit, has a chance to deal an extra 2000 damage]
[Special Effect 2: Increases your critical strike chance by 8%]
[Special Effect 3: Increases your attack power by 1200]
[Special Effect 4: Upgrades your Shadow Strike, Shadow Step, and Vanish skills by one tier]
[Special Effect 5: Active use allows Naz’s power to fill your body, cleansing a control effect]
...
The S-grade weapon was about thirty centimeters long, radiating a blue-silver gleam, its blade as sharp as a fang, and it boasted five special effects.
Yi Shen probably wouldn’t have use for it in the near future, but based on what he’d seen at the guild today, an elite level-60 weapon like this would start at no less than fifty million contribution points at auction.
And that was just the starting bid. If others competed for it, the price could go even higher!
Fortune favors the bold.
If you wanted to quickly accumulate contribution points and good gear, preying on fellow explorers was much more efficient than hunting monsters!
Yi Shen gathered his thoughts, tossed the weapon into his inventory, and used a skill to thoroughly dispose of the corpse before leaping out through a gap in the villa.
At that moment, Jiang Jinying was stationed atop the villa.
Another figure, wreathed in a purplish-red aura, was attacking the villa, and the flesh beast lunged at Jiang Jinying with a roar!
Yi Shen could see Jiang Jinying was struggling.
Now and then, her body would flare with a holy light effect—her mother must have been healing her continuously.
Both sides fought with dazzling speed and precision, pushing their reflexes to the limit.
Even Yi Shen had to admit, if he faced such an assault, he’d have to rely on Blink and Ice Barrier to dodge most of it.
But the two combatants managed to evade with pure physical skill and micro-movements. Such battle-hardened instincts and habits went far beyond mere differences in attributes!
Both were ranged physical classes.
Though Jiang Jinying was on the defensive, she somehow held her ground, so Yi Shen saw no need to intervene.
It wasn’t until the attacker realized the assault was futile—and with reinforcements approaching from the distance—that they finally abandoned the fight and retreated far away.
The battle at Peach Blossom Dock had drawn in many.
When all was said and done, Yi Shen’s family villa was nearly half destroyed.
Fortunately, his mother was unharmed.
Jiang Jinying, however, seemed to have suffered some equipment damage and was in poor condition after the fight.
She did approach Yi Shen to ask about the rogue, but of course he revealed nothing, feigning ignorance. Jiang Jinying, despite her many doubts, could only keep them to herself for now.
Two officials arrived on the scene, both over level sixty, and a team from the Blood Slaughter Guild showed up as well.
Yi Shen didn’t know what was discussed.
He guessed they investigated and tracked the attacker.
He did overhear, though, that not only had their side been attacked today, but Anqing and Zhao Nanxing’s sides had also suffered fierce assaults—with devastating losses.
