Chapter 107: Blood Ties, Cause and Effect

Sansang stood up and waved her hand to open the door, only to see the Heavenly Emperor awkwardly standing behind it. Although he tried hard to hide it, the life form concealed within the spatial barrier behind him could fool others but not Sansang’s sharp eyes.
“Hehe, I just went to take a look and ended up bringing him back with me,” the Heavenly Emperor said, scratching his head as he dismantled the self-deceptive spatial barrier behind him, revealing a beautiful young child with peach-blossom eyes.
Sansang ground her teeth and snapped, “Your ‘just bringing him back’ is really something! Do you even know how to raise a child?”
The Heavenly Emperor casually lifted the child. “I don’t know, you know, that’s enough. I earn the money, you stay home with the baby, looking as beautiful as a flower.”
Sansang frowned at the child’s discomfort and went out to call in an apprentice volunteer, handing them a handful of spirit crystals and asking them to help take care of the child for a few days. Anything lacking should be bought directly, and if more spirit crystals were needed, they could ask.
After the child was taken away, Sansang pulled out a crystal sword and chased the Heavenly Emperor, striking him. “I told you to just bring him back! Just bring him back! And you say you earn money and support the family while staying home with the baby? You don’t study your proper textbooks, instead reading all those messy books!”
The Heavenly Emperor yelped as he was hit. “I brought him back because I didn’t like seeing him being called out for auction by a bunch of people! For you, I didn’t even fight for him, I adopted him by spending spirit crystals! I do read the textbooks, I’ve memorized a third of the Interstellar Laws, okay! You’ve never studied it, it’s so hard it makes you want to vomit blood—hundreds of times harder than spacetime! And ‘How to Maintain Family Harmony’ is not a messy book; it was recommended by Xiao Jin as required reading. I’m beaten to death every day by Uncle Cain but still managed to find time to finish it…”
“You even have excuses,” Sansang laughed angrily, her eyes darkening. “If you have time to read leisure books, it just means you’re not being worked hard enough. Uncle Cain could compress your study schedule even more.”
The Heavenly Emperor lay on the ground, feeling wronged. “Don’t be so harsh.”
“If you skip classes, you take care of the child,” Sansang said, striking him a few more times before putting away the sword. “You can’t even control Green Sprout and Dragon Lord; try a real child and see if you can handle it.”
The Heavenly Emperor pounded the ground. “No, don’t!”
Sansang kicked him over. “You know you don’t want to, so find a good family to give him to.”
The Heavenly Emperor lay there, refusing to get up, then suddenly his eyes flickered. “We could give him to Tom. Tom is the kid king; he’d surely take good care of him. Besides, the little one’s eyes look like Tom’s.”
“Tom is busy cultivating; he doesn’t have time to take care of a child,” Sansang crouched down. “Are you really planning to keep him?”
The Heavenly Emperor blinked and pouted. “He was drawn by you, has no one else’s bloodline, you’re his mother—you don’t want to give him to others.”

Sansang saw he wasn’t joking and furrowed her brow. “Heavenly Emperor, raising a child can’t be based on impulse; it’s a heavy responsibility. I’m not ready, and I don’t think you are either. Our most important task now is to improve our strength. If we were already at the Profound level, I wouldn’t object, but we clearly won’t reach that level for years, even decades. I believe Tom and the others think the same—that only after gaining self-protection power will they consider other things.”
The Heavenly Emperor sat up and met Sansang’s gaze. “I know, but he’s different. I still want to keep him.”
“What’s different?” Sansang raised an eyebrow. “He’s neither the first child I created nor the first person I resurrected. If you don’t hold him or contact him, no feelings will develop, so there’s no special meaning.”
“But he carries your aura,” the Heavenly Emperor blurted out.
“How is that possible?!” Sansang was surprised but knew the Heavenly Emperor wouldn’t lie about this. She stealthily went next door to carefully examine the little boy eating fruit and looking at literacy charts. She found that he really did carry her aura—at the genetic bloodline level.
The Heavenly Emperor followed Sansang invisibly and whispered, “At first, I thought it was normal to have the creator’s genes, but other children don’t have this link with their creators. Could it be Old Danxia’s conspiracy, using this to hold you hostage for the resurrected?”
“Hard to say,” Sansang shook her head and returned to the room, seriously recalling the process. “When the hair and infant were drawn to life, my hair dipped into the water. The genes should come from the hair.”
The Heavenly Emperor said, “No matter how it came about, we must keep him.”
Sansang did not oppose this time. “He has three layers of genetic locks that need to be unlocked. Otherwise, he might collapse once he leaves the Danxia Painting Realm. Also, his soul requires the Danxia Lord’s approval to be taken away.”
The Heavenly Emperor reminded, “Tom’s healing ability is exactly about adjusting genes.”
Sansang nodded. “Hmm, genetic defects can always find a way to be cured. The main problem now is how to get the Danxia Lord to relent. Have you made any progress in your research?”
Suddenly, the Heavenly Emperor leaned his head against Sansang and activated their dual cultivation mode, forcefully pulling her into his mind sea.
Their star cores drew close, and their respective understandings of the laws flowed toward each other.
“I have some ideas. The spacetime backlash from resurrecting the dead might be a grand deception left by the predecessors, but it needs verification. You resurrected so many people—have you noticed anything strange?”
“You noticed too? I’m not sure yet, but calling it a deception is too much. Spacetime has strong resilience. Small fluctuations can’t cause a rebound. Also, the Danxia Painting Realm is special; changes in a closed microenvironment can’t create spacetime branches. Without branches, the spacetime force remains stable. Only by changing the past to create branches will the immense spacetime force act on the body, causing backlash.”

“What do you think the backlash is when time rewinds and life is resurrected?”
“It’s the backlash of fighting the origin for the soul. Resurrection before the soul returns to its origin does not cause backlash—for example, resurrection in the Danxia Painting Realm.”
“Here, no one dead for more than seven days can be resurrected.”
“That must be due to causality. My causality law is at the second realm; I know some secrets. Resurrection in the Danxia Painting Realm has a seven-day limit. It’s said that after seven days, the soul’s memory is wiped and unable to respond to summons. I suspect that after seven days, resurrection produces causality force. I remember in the ‘Great Encyclopedia of Divine Courts’ there is a rare seven-day resurrection principle: the first seven days allow free resurrection; the second seven days require payment; the third seven days allow selective resurrection; the fourth seven days require caution; the fifth seven days involve seeking death resurrection; the sixth seven days involve life exchange resurrection; the seventh seven days require divine resurrection. It describes the accumulation of causality force.”
“The seventh seven days require a god to resurrect. Then how can someone dead for tens of thousands of years be resurrected?!”
“Of course possible, as long as there’s a way to transfer the causality backlash. I remember the temple has related secret techniques, and the Danxia Lord certainly does too. Resurrecting one person won’t cause spacetime branching. The person the Danxia Lord has been waiting for might really be resurrected by me. Maybe Teacher Boya knows this, so he recommended I come here?”
“What will you do?”
“Ask Xiao Jin for the method to transfer causality, then do nothing and keep improving my strength. Once in the Holy Palace, ask him directly how to unlock the genetic locks.”
“So… feeling invincible?”
“Learning another idiom, making progress.”
“That’s right. I’m going to become the strongest man in the galaxy. Smart as ever!”
“Stay smart on your own. Dean Qinghe is knocking; I have to take the second exam.”
