Chapter 115: Sent Flying by a Single Blow

Wherever Shen Yu looked, the entire sky above Thousand Willow City seemed to have been cleaved open by an invisible hand.
In the distance, two overwhelming blades of energy, formless and immense, came crashing down upon the circular platform in succession.
Though they were still far away, the air around his ears seemed to howl, and thunder appeared to erupt from the heavens.
If the first strike had merely been Li Moran acting on a whim, then these two blows had clearly been delivered with the intent to kill.
Shen Yu’s expression grew solemn.
In the mortal world, those who reached the Insight-Truth Realm could be called immortals. They could ride swords for a thousand miles, their understanding of the Way having returned to its source. Yet before a true immortal of the Upper Three Realms, they were still far too weak.
Any cultivator capable of entering the Upper Three Realms could establish a sect and command great authority within the cultivation world.
Not to mention this Saber Immortal, who had entered the Way through the saber and achieved mastery of its entire path.
Rumble!
The saber energy finally arrived. Countless broken branches and withered trees were lifted into the air by the wind, instantly reduced to dust and oblivion.
A few men who had managed to remain conscious cried out in despair.
The reason was that the Saber Immortal’s second strike had formed, outside Thousand Willow City ten thousand miles away, a colossal tornado of saber wind condensed entirely from saber energy.
The vortex spiraled as an aura of destruction bore down upon them. The ground trembled as though an earth bull were turning beneath it. Beneath that tornado, the entire great city seemed suddenly fragile and utterly defenseless.
At that moment, the immense divine power of a great cultivator of the Upper Three Realms—power capable of destroying cities and overturning seas—was laid bare before everyone’s eyes.
...
During the first clash, Shen Yu had suffered slight internal injuries, and his breath and spiritual power continued to churn restlessly.
Yet his expression remained calm.
From the moment he had been born with innate knowledge in this life, to the incident at the old Shen residence, he had repeatedly reminded himself that without the cultivation and strength he had once possessed, retaining his former arrogance would mean courting death at the slightest misstep.
And yet he had still chosen to do so.
Only through life-and-death tempering beneath immense pressure could one advance through the realms most quickly.
Besides, he had often attempted methods that ordinary people would consider utterly incomprehensible—such as using the Insight-Truth Realm to withstand a great cultivator of the Upper Three Realms, effectively seeking death by his own hand.
More importantly, however, the distance between the two of them was simply too great—tens of thousands of miles.
At such a distance, even for that Saber Immortal, three strikes containing such concentrated saber intent should already have been the limit. By the time those three attacks reached this place, they would inevitably have weakened and been affected in various ways.
Shen Yu murmured softly, “Go.”
The Jingqing Sword vanished from his hand.
In the next instant, the wooden sword transformed into a meteor and slammed into the front of the tornado.
Boom!

A violent wave of air swept over them. A sharp, grating shriek tore through the atmosphere, harsh beyond endurance.
The wooden sword collided with the tornado, producing countless dazzling sparks and flashes of lightning between them, accompanied by incessant crackling.
After a moment, the body of the wooden sword began to bend and tremble, as though it could bear no more. The tornado continued advancing toward the great platform.
Shen Yu took one light step forward, and his figure appeared high in the sky.
He grasped the wooden sword and gently twisted his wrist.
He held the sword horizontally before him.
A block—no more than the most ordinary and simplest move in the world.
Then, with a resounding crash, the tornado of saber wind, which had charged forward with unstoppable arrogance, seemed to slam into an invisible wall. It could advance no farther.
...
Everyone who remained conscious found the sight utterly astonishing. They were so shaken that they could not speak.
That young man had actually blocked a strike from the legendary Saber Immortal.
More importantly, he appeared to have done so with remarkable ease.
What was happening?
...
Shen Yu held the sword horizontally in his right hand, his left hand clasped behind his back. Though he had received the second strike almost casually, he still frowned.
All arts, sword techniques, and divine abilities in the world were divided into three grades.
The highest spoke through meaning, the middle through force, and the lowest through form.
Had his opponent relied purely on the suppression of her realm, pouring all her saber intent into her spiritual energy as she had with the first strike, resisting her would have been extremely difficult.
Yet for some unknown reason, she had chosen this method instead—converting all her spiritual power and saber force into something that appeared formidable but was, in truth, little more than an illusory, inferior technique.
Abandoning the essential for the superficial. Foolish, absurd, and contrary to reason.
Besides, Shen Yu excelled above all else at seeking out the weak points in every matter under heaven, then breaking through them with a single strike.
It was something he had known instinctively from birth.
Shen Yu held the sword before him. Then he extended his left hand, starlight flickering at his fingertip, and lightly touched a certain point within the tornado of saber wind.
“Break.”
The young man’s calm voice rang out.
Immediately afterward, a pleasing note sounded. It was as though years of haze had finally dispersed, or like the airy grace of a summer breeze drifting gently past.
The tornado, saturated with saber intent, let out a thunderous boom.
Then it collapsed in an instant.

For one breath, silence reigned in the sky.
During that brief moment, a trace of surprise flashed through Shen Yu’s calm black eyes. It became understanding, then finally returned to indifference.
He quietly gazed ahead.
By all reason, once the second strike had ended, he should have devoted himself entirely to resisting the Saber Immortal’s third attack.
And that was indeed what happened—only the process was somewhat unexpected.
For after the saber energy filling the heavens dispersed, Shen Yu saw the center of the vortex.
A place that should have been completely empty now held a small knife. It emitted no aura of power, was no larger than a palm, and radiated a faint white light from every inch of its body.
So the third strike of that female true immortal had been hidden within the tornado storm.
Silent, yet terrifying beyond measure.
The second strike had been a feint.
The third was the killing blow.
No one had imagined that the female true immortal would employ such a sinister—and even somewhat undignified—method against a junior.
But naturally, no one was in any position to criticize her now.
Shen Yu repeated the same motion.
He held the sword horizontally before his chest.
Not because he lacked other means of defense, but because there was no time left to react.
Even for Shen Yu.
In the next instant, light burst in every direction between heaven and earth. Strands of vast saber intent poured forth from the silver-white blade, spreading across the entire world.
The small knife began to surge forward.
It struck the wooden sword Shen Yu had raised before him, then pressed through the sword with deadly force against his chest.
Like a meteor tearing across the sky.
Shen Yu’s body began to fly backward. It scattered the sea of clouds, shattered towering buildings, and smashed apart the roads within the city.
Wherever his retreating figure passed, every house and structure beneath him exploded into fragments. In the very center of the city’s main avenue, a chasm stretching dozens of yards suddenly appeared.
The saber intent grew even more turbulent, filling heaven and earth as though it would never cease until one side was dead.
Shen Yu showed no sign of stopping. One strike sent him flying out of Thousand Willow City, and in an instant he vanished beyond the horizon.
