Chapter 137: Physical Examination (Part II)
"Crack!" With a thunderous boom, the testing apparatus was struck by a ruthless, full-force blow from Aoki Tsukasa, toppling backward as easily as a crushed blade of straw.
"Hiss..." Matsuyama Iwa exchanged a look with the assistant coach beside him, both seeing the shock mirrored in each other's eyes.
Aoki Tsukasa rubbed his wrist, feeling a surge of excitement. "How much?"
"Three hundred kilograms... six hundred and sixty-one pounds?" Matsuyama Iwa felt as if he were still waking from a dream. He rubbed his eyes and hurriedly added, "Do it a few more times!"
Aoki Tsukasa loosened his shoulders and began to throw punches with everything he had. The roaring sound of his strikes echoed across the third floor of the club, drowning out the music playing in the background.
"Five hundred and ninety pounds, six hundred pounds, six hundred and seventy pounds!" The assistant coach swallowed hard, looking at Aoki Tsukasa with a hint of trepidation.
Hearing this, Matsuyama Iwa laughed out loud, brimming with excitement. "Not bad! Truly not bad!"
"This level of punching power is absolutely outstanding for a lightweight!" Matsuyama Iwa punched the air enthusiastically. "No, nationwide—within this entire Superstar Tournament—I haven't seen a single person with a punch as heavy as yours!"
Aoki Tsukasa scratched his head and chuckled. "Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration?"
Matsuyama Iwa was deadly serious. "The heavyweight champion, Alexander, once tested his punching power for a scientific program, and he only hit thirteen hundred pounds. But how much more does he weigh than you?"
"The current national record in Japan for a lightweight is only eight hundred and seventy pounds, and even that, I suspect, is inflated." Matsuyama Iwa shook his head in amazement. "It's absurd. Your rate of progress is simply absurd!"
Aoki Tsukasa grinned, feeling deeply grateful for the help of the Dream Training Room.
Being able to throw such heavy punches wasn't just because of his improved physical fitness; more importantly, Aoki Tsukasa had learned how to generate power.
How to throw a punch to make it as fast and fierce as possible was something he studied every single day in the dream room. Master Li still wasn't satisfied with his progress, and even now, he continued to teach him how to strike with even greater ferocity. He had no idea how much power or speed he might eventually achieve once he finally met the master's standards.
"Left hook, go!" Matsuyama Iwa struck while the iron was hot, wanting to finish the testing while Aoki Tsukasa was still in the zone.
"Bang!" Another dull, booming sound echoed through the room.
By now, many people training in the gym had stopped what they were doing and swarmed over. They watched Aoki Tsukasa test his power, their scalps tingling in astonishment.
"How much?" Aoki Tsukasa stopped only after throwing five or six more punches.
Matsuyama Iwa’s voice rang out clearly: "The left hook averages six hundred and forty pounds!"
The onlookers erupted into a frenzy.
"My god, did I hear that right? How heavy is six hundred and forty pounds?"
"That's nearly three hundred kilograms, right?"
"Damn... wouldn't a punch like that kill a man?"
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Who knew this bald guy was actually this strong!"
Listening to the surrounding whispers, Aoki Tsukasa shrugged helplessly.
"Come on, keep going. Let's test your legs!" Matsuyama Iwa rubbed his hands together, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Alright." Aoki Tsukasa stepped back, took a deep breath, and unleashed a ferocious roundhouse kick into the testing device.
"Crack!"
The sound of the kick striking the target caused the crowd to gasp. Some were even startled enough by the sudden, firecracker-like report to step backward.
"How much?"
"Hurry up, how many pounds?"
The onlookers were even more impatient than Aoki Tsukasa.
"Twelve hundred pounds!" Matsuyama Iwa shouted, laughing as he urged Aoki Tsukasa to continue.
After finishing the right leg, the average hitting power was twelve hundred and thirty pounds. The left leg reached an equally absurd figure of eleven hundred and seventy pounds.
The room fell into a stunned silence.
Aoki Tsukasa chuckled and touched his head. "Do we need to test anything else?"
"Let's go! Let's test!" Matsuyama Iwa, caught up in the excitement of the data, dragged him to the bench press area and loaded eighty kilograms onto the bar. "Come on, push it with everything you've got."
Under the gaze of the crowd, Aoki Tsukasa lay back calmly. After taking a few breaths, he exerted force through his arms.
"One! Two! Three!" The onlookers began to count for him, brimming with excitement.
After pushing a full fifteen repetitions, Aoki Tsukasa racked the weight and sat up, looking as though he still had plenty of energy left. "Alright, let's stop here."
Matsuyama Iwa looked at the crowd and nodded. He patted Aoki Tsukasa on the shoulder with a wry smile. "Kid, you're good. You're really good!"
Aoki Tsukasa felt that pressing around one hundred and twenty kilograms would be no problem for him at all. However, with everyone watching, he felt like a street performer. He felt that if he kept going, he’d have to break a boulder on his chest just to justify the fanatical, awestruck looks of the people around him.
"Alright, I still have to train today." Aoki Tsukasa rubbed his slightly tired arms, waiting a moment to regain his composure.
Matsuyama Iwa nodded silently and waved at the onlookers. "Alright, everyone, go back to your own training. As long as you all work hard, nothing is impossible."
A few familiar regulars responded with bitter smiles. "Forget it, forget it. We're just here to stay in shape."
"That's right. This kid is the fighter you're training, right? I've got my eyes on him. Make sure to call me when he has a match; I'll definitely be there!"
"Tsk, it's nice to be young."
Listening to the praise from the customers, Aoki Tsukasa grinned. Seeing his expression, Matsuyama Iwa gave him a playful slap on the back. "Don't get cocky. Go on, get to the pads with Coach Odada. My sparring partners will arrive in a couple of days, and then I'll make sure you're exhausted."
Aoki Tsukasa blinked. "Sparring partners?"
"Obviously! If you only train technique, you'll be a sitting duck once you hit the ring! Those sparring partners cost me a fortune to bring in, so don't you dare ask for time off!" Matsuyama Iwa glared. "Any unexcused absences from now on will result in a fine."
Aoki Tsukasa let out an "uh" and smiled awkwardly. "But what if something actually comes up..."
"Hmph, what could be more important than fighting?" Matsuyama Iwa glared at him fiercely. "If you get into a street fight, I'll fine you one hundred thousand yen. Let's see if you dare to fight then."
"Uh..." Aoki Tsukasa smiled bitterly and nodded. "I'll try my best..."
"What do you mean 'try your best'!" Matsuyama Iwa raised a fist, threatening him with a grimace. "No fighting!"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Aoki Tsukasa chuckled, stepped back, and raised an eyebrow at Matsuyama Iwa. "Though, honestly, Rock-bro, you might not be a match for me anymore!"
Matsuyama Iwa’s expression turned even more ferocious. "Huh? You little brat, you really have gotten cocky!"
"Just kidding, haha. I'm going to train." Aoki Tsukasa winked at him playfully and turned to leave.
"You little brat, I've got things to do today, but I'll deal with you later!" Matsuyama Iwa turned away. To be honest, he wasn't entirely sure of himself anymore. Despite his heavyweight frame, he had been away from the ring for a long time, and whether he could still win was hard to say.
Should he start training again to find his form and beat this kid a few times before he hit his peak? Matsuyama Iwa glared at Aoki Tsukasa's back.
If he let this kid train for a while longer, he might actually become a monster.
But the thought that this monster was being trained under his own guidance made Matsuyama Iwa break into a wide, satisfied grin. He couldn't help but feel incredibly proud.
