Chapter 113: The Strange Snow Eagle
Soon, the forces led by Martin arrived. They swiftly joined the fray, surrounding Sun Licheng on all sides.
Seeing that Sun Licheng had reached his wit's end, Adolf and Cips exchanged a glance and waved for their troops to cease their assault.
"Sun Licheng, stop resisting and surrender. Her Majesty, the Goddess of the Silver Moon, only wants you to hand over the true Heart of Freedom and the secrets within. If you obediently hand them over, the Goddess will surely spare your life. In fact, Her Majesty still holds you in high regard. As an old friend, I advise you to lay down your weapons now."
Adolf began to persuade Sun Licheng with a smile. Backed by the weapons of the Star-Moon Tribe warriors, his words carried a sense of inevitability.
In truth, he was quite wary of Sun Licheng. Although Cips had warned him that Sun Licheng was formidable and they had prepared accordingly, no one expected this man to be so fierce. Looking at the corpses strewn across the ground, even a veteran of a hundred battles like Adolf could not help but feel a chill.
However, after such a prolonged battle, he noticed that Sun Licheng had exhausted his trump cards, his stamina was visibly waning, and a look of despair had even flickered in his eyes. He decided to pressure Sun Licheng into surrendering immediately; after all, the Goddess’s oracle was to capture Sun Licheng alive, not to kill him.
"Surrender? Ha. My most important task in this world is to find the way home, not to live in ignoble survival. I am a hero blessed by the God of Heroes; I could never surrender on the battlefield, let alone to such an evil Goddess of the Silver Moon. In this world, no one can stop me from going home, not even a deity."
With this thought, Sun Licheng did not reply. He spurred his mount, the Wolf King, and swung his long blade, charging straight at Adolf.
Seeing his well-intentioned advice met with defiance, Adolf grew angry and ordered the goblins to attack once more.
Sun Licheng slashed desperately through the ranks, the sacred hymns of the Silver Moon War Dance ringing in his ears as more and more hobgoblins appeared.
"Am I truly going to die here?"
Watching the endless stream of enemies and the slowing pace of the Wolf King, Sun Licheng thought with a heavy heart.
Victory seemed within reach, and a smile crept onto Adolf's lips. Just as he was rallying his men to finish off Sun Licheng, the outer perimeter of the goblin formation suddenly erupted into chaos. The frantic clashing of iron armor rang out, and the dying screams of goblins were enough to pierce the eardrums.
"What is happening?"
Everyone involuntarily froze and turned to look. Dozens of tall, black mechanical puppets were charging out of the forest, tearing into the outermost goblin ranks.
"It’s the Death Dance squad! Azure Dragon and the others are here!"
Sun Licheng shouted in his heart, instantly revitalized, and resumed his ferocious assault.
The Death Dance were the elite of the Goblin Empire's mechanical legion. Each unit, with eight arms wielding eight weapons, was a giant meat grinder. Any Star-Moon Tribe warrior caught within the reach of their blades was instantly reduced to a pile of gore.
The unprepared goblins could not withstand such an onslaught. Amidst a mist of blood and shattered limbs, their outer formation collapsed.
Adolf hurriedly issued orders for another squad of goblins to intercept, but their crude weapons were no match for the standardized weaponry of the Goblin Empire. They were quickly hacked into pieces, and once their weapons were gone, that squad also broke.
Just like that, the Death Dance puppets shattered the goblin lines and finally linked up with Sun Licheng.
"Azure Dragon, how did you get here?" Sun Licheng asked hurriedly upon seeing him.
Azure Dragon parried a goblin spear with his blade and slit the enemy's throat before replying, "No time for that now. I'll explain in detail once we break out."
Sun Licheng cursed himself for losing focus on priorities and redoubled his attack.
By now, a large number of hobgoblins wielding heavy javelins had begun to throw them at Sun Licheng and his party. Because they were clad in heavy armor, arrows had become nearly useless, prompting the goblins to switch to armor-piercing heavy javelins.
Seeing the whistling javelins, Sun Licheng shouted, "Break through!" The invigorated Wolf King began to accelerate.
With the appearance of Flame Shields, Stone Skin, and an inspiring melody, Sun Licheng cast buffs upon the Death Dance units.
Unfortunately, mechanical puppets lacked biological bodies and could not benefit from Bloodlust. Even so, bolstered by Sun Licheng’s Heroic Power, the Death Dance squad unleashed terrifying combat prowess, causing the blocking goblins to collapse rapidly.
Looking at the field of corpses left in the wake of Sun Licheng’s escape, Adolf sighed deeply. Aside from the two Deer Cavalrymen from the Flower Nation at Sun Licheng's side, the Star-Moon Tribe’s greatest gain was the three weapons left behind by the Death Dance.
"Sigh. I never expected Sun Licheng and his group to be so powerful, or that they were hiding so many mechanical puppets. I underestimated them."
Adolf lamented; their losses this time were far too great.
"Great Chieftain, there is no need to blame yourself too much. Our strategy was sound; it is just that Sun Licheng hid his strength too well. However, he is a God-Chosen; naturally, he cannot be treated lightly. It is normal for such surprises to occur." Cips walked to Adolf’s side to comfort him.
"Sigh. Let us report to the Goddess and hope to receive a new oracle soon."
Adolf sighed again and led the others back to the Star-Moon Tribe headquarters.
Meanwhile, Sun Licheng, now far away, was speaking loudly with Azure Dragon as they ran side-by-side.
"Azure Dragon, how did you manage to arrive in time?" Sun Licheng asked.
Azure Dragon quickly provided the answer.
It turned out that yesterday afternoon, a Snow Eagle had circled above the tribal camp, refusing to leave. Everyone was curious and stepped out to watch. To their surprise, Mr. Handy discovered that the eagle's flight path formed characters from the Goblin Empire script, which read: *Sun Licheng is in danger.*
Upon deciphering this, Mr. Handy was shocked and immediately issued orders. He reinforced the camp’s defenses while recalling Azure Dragon, ordering him to take the Death Dance squad to support Sun Licheng.
Azure Dragon and his team had not dared to delay. Risking massive energy consumption, they pushed at full speed along the route Sun Licheng had taken, arriving at the most critical moment.
"That was close. If it weren't for Azure Dragon and the others, I would have surely been captured." Hearing the explanation, Sun Licheng felt a sense of relief at his own good fortune.
But immediately, another question arose: "Who on earth sent the Snow Eagle to warn the tribe?"
