“Ah…”

Sun Licheng heard a desperate scream behind him and quickly turned his head. One of his soldiers was screaming as he fell off his elk.

Although Sun Licheng had equipped everyone with composite vine armor, the elk’s carrying capacity was limited. Unlike the Wolf King, which wore full-body composite vine armor, the elk was not so fully protected. This oversight proved costly—the warrior of the Flower Clan narrowly dodged a spear, but the elk was struck.

The injured elk’s front legs buckled, collapsing to the ground and throwing its rider off.

This warrior was tough; despite the pain, he quickly got back up and brandished his battle knife, charging once more toward Sun Licheng. Seeing that his comrade was still alive, Sun Licheng exhaled in relief, turned the Wolf King’s head around, and prepared to come to his aid. Yet, at that moment, a bronze spear whistled through the air toward the charging Flower Clan soldier.

Sun Licheng hadn’t expected such a powerful spear. With the soldier’s scream, it shattered his flaming shield and protective stone skin, then viciously pierced through his body, hurling him far backward.

“No!”

Seeing the soldier fall motionless, Sun Licheng let out a pained cry.

Turning to the origin of the spear, he saw a towering bear goblin standing there—Adolf, the great chieftain of the Star-Moon Tribe.

Adolf shouldered a greatsword and wore armor forged from linked iron plates. Though coarse and heavy in appearance, it was incredibly sturdy. What astonished Sun Licheng even more was the shimmering radiance flowing across the armor. Drawing on his knowledge, Sun Licheng realized this was magical equipment, imbued with attribute enhancements!

While Sun Licheng was still stunned, a hearty laugh came from behind Adolf. Cipus appeared, clad in gleaming half-plate silver armor. This half-elf no longer bore the serene composure he once had; his entire being radiated a chilling murderous intent. In his hands, he wielded two rapiers, one long and one short. What alarmed Sun Licheng further was that, aside from Cipus’s armor being magical, the blade of his longer sword also sparkled with light—another enchanted weapon.

Faced with such formidable foes, Sun Licheng dared not hesitate. He spurred the Wolf King sideways, charging toward the goblin battle formation.

“Full charge!”

At Sun Licheng’s shout, dazzling light radiated from both him and the Wolf King. They crashed into the goblin ranks like a rampaging beast, knocking several bear goblins in the front line flying. With sweeping strikes of his greatsword, blood rained down as the enemy formation began to falter.

“Chieftain, look—this guy Sun Licheng is formidable,” Cipus said, pointing at the relentless attacker as he spoke to Adolf.

Adolf snorted coldly, his eyes narrowing to slits. He hefted his greatsword and charged wildly toward Sun Licheng.

“Ah!”

With a shout, Adolf swung the greatsword down upon Sun Licheng’s head. The blade shimmered with twinkling starlight.

A chill gripped Sun Licheng’s heart—this too was a magical weapon. He dared not meet it head-on and yanked the Wolf King’s reins, dodging swiftly to the left.

The greatsword struck the ground fiercely, causing sparks to fly and the earth to blacken with scorch marks.

Adolf was quick to follow up, engaging Sun Licheng in close combat.

Only now did Sun Licheng realize that the usually smiling Adolf was indeed a master swordsman, his skill rivaling that of the half-elf. What made him even more formidable was his towering stature and immense strength, coupled with two pieces of magical equipment—an almost impossible opponent.

Under Adolf’s relentless pressure, Sun Licheng found himself struggling to move freely.

Just then, another agonized scream reached Sun Licheng’s ears. With a glance, he saw Cipus leaping about the elk rider, each movement drawing forth a spray of blood arrows from the rider’s body—as if slowly draining his life away.

Sun Licheng knew Cipus’s skill meant this soldier wouldn’t last long, but Cipus seemed to be toying with the rider cruelly, torturing him mercilessly. Spotting Sun Licheng’s gaze, Cipus deliberately flashed a mocking smile, igniting a surge of anger within Sun Licheng.

As a disciple of the God of Intrigue, Cipus preferred cunning and deceit over brute force. What he was doing now was meant to unsettle Sun Licheng’s mind and open opportunities for others to strike—and indeed, his plan was working.

Adolf, battle-hardened, seized the moment as Sun Licheng’s attention wavered, launching a fierce assault that forced Sun Licheng into a flurry of desperate defense.

Watching Cipus’s bloodletting take effect, he laughed arrogantly.

“This can’t go on!” Sun Licheng shouted inwardly. Suddenly, he drew a short musket from his back and aimed swiftly at Adolf.

Cipus, having suffered from this weapon before, was caught off guard. He hurriedly warned Adolf, “Watch out! That thing shoots bullets!”

But it was too late. Before Adolf could react, the musket roared.

Hit like a battering ram, Adolf flew high into the air and crashed heavily to the ground. Seeing their chieftain fall, the Star-Moon Tribe warriors panicked.

Yet, Adolf slowly sat up from the ground, shaking his head to clear it. Glancing at his chest armor, which was now deeply dented, he gasped inwardly.

“Narrow escape. If not for the magic heavy armor blessed by the Silver Moon Goddess, that shot probably would’ve killed me.”

Adolf finally cast aside his underestimation of Sun Licheng. Shouting to his troops, “Hold him! Dance the Silver Moon War Dance!” he brandished his sword and charged back into battle.

Soon, while a group of goblins engaged Sun Licheng and his men, the rest formed ranks and began chanting the sacred hymn.

Sun Licheng’s eyes nearly popped from their sockets, but with Adolf and Cipus’s relentless pressure, he could not break the Silver Moon War Dance’s rhythm.

Moments later, brilliant light erupted as a horde of towering bear goblins emerged from the formation, weapons raised as they surged toward Sun Licheng.

The bear goblins’ fighting prowess far outmatched the smaller goblins. The last Flower Clan soldier was quickly cut to pieces.

Sun Licheng was helpless before his comrade’s grisly death. Suddenly, he caught sight of Martin leading a large group of goblins rushing in from behind—he was completely surrounded.

Despair flooded Sun Licheng’s heart. Yet, thinking of his family back on Earth, he cried out inwardly, “I will survive! I must survive!”
