Chapter One: The Handsome Man’s Diary
Page (1/3)
Handsome Guy’s Diary.
June 20th, sunny turning cloudy.
The first day after the plane crash.
Last night, the plane fell. We survived. Though we endured a difficult night, fortunately, nothing unexpected or dangerous happened after. It seems it will rain today. We have begun working together to build a shelter. We’ve salvaged a fair amount of food and medicine from the wreckage, but no one knows when rescue will arrive. Until then, we must ensure our survival.
So, tomorrow I will gather everyone to clear the land, plant some potatoes, and collect fresh water.
June 21st, cloudy.
Playing football on the beach.
June 22nd, sunny.
Playing football by the sea.
June 23rd, sunny.
The ball was kicked into the sea by Chu Xiaotong and lost.
June 24th, heavy rain.
Li Chungang’s foot was bitten by a snake. We did our best to save him for three hours, but in the end, only the snake died.
June 25th, heavy rain.
Xu Zhe, oh Xu Zhe, how did you become so degenerate? Have you forgotten the survival plan you once set? This cannot go on. Pull yourself together, plant some crops, collect fresh water.
June 26th, heavy rain.
Played cards all night last night. Who secretly tampered with my diary? And even wrote in it?
June 27th, heavy rain.
Turns out it was Keyi who took my diary and wrote yesterday’s entry. Actually, planting potatoes and collecting water—I’d already arranged for Li Chungang and Wang Jianguo to handle those tasks. As everyone knows, I am not someone who loses himself in frivolous pursuits.
June 28th, heavy rain.
Today I received three love letters from girls in my class. The writing was decent, heartfelt, their literary skills comparable to the renowned motivational writer “Tai Shang Bu Yi.” Still, I am a man with a girlfriend. I will never cheat or flirt. I must reject them.
June 29th, heavy rain.
After sending rejection letters yesterday, one girl remained undeterred and sent a reply. I am not happy about this. Feelings cannot be forced. Tonight at the group dinner, I need to emphasize this publicly, to give Keyi more security.
—
At this moment, Xu Zhe sat in a crude shelter cobbled together from the airplane wreckage, holding a notebook partially ruined by seawater, recording his day with seriousness and care.
Outside the door, the bonfire swayed to the rhythm of the waves and wind, casting a faint glow.
The light spilled across Xu Zhe’s finely chiseled features; his eyes deep-set, his nose high and straight, exuding the aura of a jade-like gentleman, unparalleled in his generation.
Even stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash, the handsome remain handsome.
Originally, this should have been a pleasant graduation trip. Who could have imagined the plane would crash on the island before reaching the first destination? The cause is unknown.
Of over three hundred passengers, only one hundred remained on the island.
Exactly one hundred—fifty-three of them are Xu Zhe’s classmates, forty-three from other classes, and the last four are crew members—specifically, four flight attendants.
As for the tall, handsome captain and co-pilot, don’t ask—just know they did not survive.
It was a strange thing: of the original three hundred passengers, those left on the island, besides the crew, were all Xu Zhe’s schoolmates.
When the survivors were counted, everyone was astonished. The student group suffered zero casualties, but no one could explain why.
Ten days after the crash, nothing unexpected had happened on the island; all one hundred were alive and well. The plane lay broken in several pieces across the island, luggage and supplies intact, including food.
For the short term, survival was not an issue.
But if rescue didn’t arrive soon, everything would become uncertain.
“Brother Zhe, Brother Zhe, big news!”
A voice at the door interrupted Xu Zhe’s thoughts.
He turned to see his roommate of four years, Li Chungang.

“What big news… uh.”
He closed the diary and stood up, having just asked the question, when he saw Li Chungang, face tense, holding a letter and handing it over.
Xu Zhe frowned.
Again.
This was yet another love letter Li Chungang had delivered on his behalf—he’d lost count of how many.
Why? Why must I endure this?
Xu Zhe took the letter in silence, with no desire to open it.
He’d seen too many. He was tired.
Tearing sound!
Xu Zhe instantly ripped the letter to shreds and tossed it outside the tent.
His face was blank, like a cold-hearted assassin, watching the scraps flutter in the air and fall to the ground, as if he could glimpse a girl’s shattered heart among them.
He gazed up at the night sky and sighed.
Hopefully, this act wouldn’t hurt the girl too much, but if he didn’t do it, he couldn’t truly extinguish their hopes.
Being handsome is a kind of trouble. I’ve understood this since childhood. What matters is, I’ve never taken pride in it, nor used my looks and smarts to become a playboy. One day, you’ll understand my good intentions!
I, Xu Zhe, am rigorous and honest!
“Uh, this…” Li Chungang gaped at the pile of scraps, about to say something.
“No worries, I know what I’m doing.” Xu Zhe waved him off calmly. “By the way, what did you mean by big news?”
Li Chungang blinked, then replied, “Wang Xinran is missing. Your girlfriend is gathering everyone to discuss it.”
“Wang Xinran is missing?” Xu Zhe was startled.
Wang Xinran was one of the girls who’d sent him a love letter a few days ago, but after he rejected her, she never replied.
Based on past experience, that was usually the end of it.
But now she’s gone. Perhaps, heartbroken, she’s hiding somewhere to cry…
“Maybe I shouldn’t be so harsh and cold when rejecting others. A touch of gentleness wouldn’t go amiss,” Xu Zhe mused aloud.
“This has nothing to do with you. I heard Wang Xinran, after being rejected by you, sent another love letter to someone else the next day.”
Li Chungang shook his head. “Her disappearance is peculiar. The girls only just noticed—she wasn’t seen all day, assumed to be collecting rainwater, but now it’s dark and everyone’s returned except her. The rainwater collectors said they never saw her. Stranger still…”
Li Chungang lowered his voice, his expression becoming mysterious.
“They said last night, Wang Xinran received a curse letter, saying death was coming, telling her to pass it on or else everyone would die. The signature was a blood-red handprint, as small as a baby’s.”
“…”
Xu Zhe twitched at the corner of his mouth. “That’s it? Are you sure it’s not a prank?”
“Yeah, they all thought it was a joke at first, so didn’t pay much attention. Only now, with Wang Xinran missing for a whole day, did they recall the curse letter. Besides…”
Li Chungang continued, “The letter really gives you chills, especially that baby handprint—it’s eerily real, and there’s no baby on this island.”
“That bizarre? Where’s the letter? Let me see.”
“The letter?”
Li Chungang pointed at the scraps outside the door. “You just tore it up. Didn’t you say you knew what you were doing? I thought you had a plan.”
Xu Zhe: “…Forget it, let’s go find the others.”
…
Soon.
The two walked through the camp to a clearing near the beach.
Clusters of bonfires cast faint light.
Nearly a hundred people were gathered here, men and women, noisily discussing.

Among the crash survivors on the island, apart from Xu Zhe’s classmates, the others were from different majors—civil engineering, electronic programming, etc.—but almost all were boyfriends or girlfriends of Xu Zhe’s classmates.
“So many people together for once!” Xu Zhe remarked.
“Tch, that’s thanks to your girlfriend, the school’s top beauty. Her influence far outstrips yours as class president,” Li Chungang said enviously.
Xu Zhe smiled, unconcerned.
His gaze swept the crowd and quickly settled on a group of girls.
Four women dressed as flight attendants stood with several equally youthful, lovely girls, discussing something seriously.
In the bright firelight, the flight attendants’ faces were flawless and fair, befitting their employment with a major airline.
The other girls, in appearance and figure, were scarcely inferior.
One girl stood out among them all. Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, her skin was fair, her eyes clear as spring water, exuding a graceful tranquility. She was Xu Zhe’s girlfriend, Lin Keyi.
The two had been together since freshman year; now, as graduates, four years had passed. Their personalities and interests matched well, and their relationship was solid enough for marriage.
After surviving the crash, their bond grew even stronger.
“Xu Zhe, over here.” When Lin Keyi saw him, she immediately waved.
The flight attendants and other girls turned to look, their eyes lingering on Xu Zhe’s face.
That face—truly handsome!
“Go on, I’ll find Wang Jianguo and the others,” Li Chungang said, unable to bear the scene, and left.
Xu Zhe, eyes only for Lin Keyi, smiled and walked forward.
“I heard Wang Xinran is missing?”
“Yes.” Lin Keyi nodded gravely. “We’ve asked everyone. No one has seen Wang Xinran since dawn. The last sightings were last night.”
“Has everywhere been searched?”
“Yes. No trace at all.” Lin Keyi frowned. “Did you see the curse letter Li Chungang brought?”
“No need. With my intellect, I can infer its contents just from hearing about it. What matters now is organizing everyone to search.”
Xu Zhe’s expression turned serious.
Lin Keyi nodded lightly, about to speak.
Suddenly, the light around them shifted. Normally, this would mean lightning, briefly illuminating the night.
But quickly, Xu Zhe sensed something was wrong.
The brightness did not fade.
The crowd’s noisy discussions suddenly ceased, and silence swept over the gathering.
Not lightning?
Xu Zhe was stunned. Looking at Lin Keyi, he saw not just her, but everyone else, staring in shock behind him.
“What’s wrong? What’s happening?” Xu Zhe turned.
He froze.
Amidst the crowd, a white beam of light erupted from the ground, shooting skyward. The immense column radiated dazzling brilliance, flooding the faces of everyone with its glow.
