Chapter Thirteen: Hidden Quest and Reassigned Teams
Yu Tang led Shen Tianshi into the house first.
Upon seeing the scene inside, Yu Tang’s lips twitched. “This show must be saving a lot on the budget.”
Such a large room, yet only a handful of items on the table.
Shen Tianshi, looking cool, began stuffing things into his basket.
“Yu Xiaotang, hurry up and pack!”
[What a waste of talent.]
[Who first discovered that Bai Yang could be on a dating show?]
[Forget that, I’m more curious—who was the genius that thought Yu Tang should be on a dating show? A true talent scout.]
[Good discovery, but next time, please, keep it hidden.]
Yu Tang looked at the pile of things in Shen Tianshi’s basket, unable to hide the twitch at the corner of her mouth.
“Seriously, do you even know how to cook what you’re taking?”
Shen Tianshi couldn’t care less. He just grabbed whatever he wanted and threw it in the basket.
“Who cares, let’s take it first—figure it out later.”
Yu Tang eyed him, hesitating for a moment, but in the end, she decided if you can’t beat them, join them.
By the time they came out, their hands were overflowing with a bulging basket.
Meanwhile, Zhou Ziheng and Xiang Youran, freshly showered and changed into clean clothes, were waiting outside for Yu Tang.
Because their luggage was still with the production team, Xiang Youran and Zhou Ziheng had to make do with the crew’s clothes.
Zhou Ziheng, in an ill-fitting set of work clothes, went livid at the sight of Yu Tang’s arms full of supplies. At this rate, by the time they got their turn, the room would surely be picked clean!
“Come on, Yu Tang, isn’t this a bit selfish?”
Yu Tang looked puzzled. “What are you mumbling about? We came first, took what we needed. Do you see a problem with that?”
“Exactly! We get to feast, unlike some people who’ll be eating plain rice soaked in hot water!” Shen Tianshi taunted Zhou Ziheng, shaking his head with smug satisfaction.
With that, he dragged Yu Tang aside with him.
[Seriously? Yu Tang is so selfish. Are they the only ones allowed to eat?]
[Hilarious. If you wanted to win, you should have won. Simple as that.]
[You say that like he didn’t want to win too. Yu Tang’s tasks were just easier (rolls eyes).]
[Shen Tianshi cracks me up. Is this the confidence of a rich heir?]
[Pointing fingers and cursing… how rude.]
[Oh, but your idol is the only polite one? Calling others selfish every other sentence.]
As the barrage of comments scrolled by, Xie Yi and Xiao Yufei also entered the room.
With each new group, Zhou Ziheng’s expression grew darker. By the time Chen Cheng and her group emerged, his face was so stormy it seemed it might drip ink.
But Xiang Youran remained as composed as ever, not a hint of panic on her face.
Yu Tang couldn’t help but admire her. The female lead truly lived up to her title—so calm and collected.
If she knew there was a chance she might not get to eat, she’d have been pounding on the director's kneecaps by now.
Beside her, Xiao Yufei was curious.
“Youran, aren’t you worried you might not get dinner?”
Xiang Youran smiled with her lips pressed together, unable to help herself.
“It’s fine. I’m dieting anyway—a little less food is no big deal.”
“Besides, you won the competition. These things are rightfully yours.”
She spoke graciously, her smile warm and gentle, her gaze thoughtfully meeting the production camera, instantly drawing the audience closer.
[I feel like Youran is speaking right to me.]
[Oh my, our angel Youran is always so considerate.]
[Youran truly has a kind heart, never even getting upset in this situation.]
[Has no one noticed Zhou Ziheng’s face?]
[He cracks me up. Whether someone walks in or out, his face darkens another shade, like an NPC.]
[Such an NPC! I can’t stop laughing.]
When all the remaining supplies were taken, Zhou Ziheng strode in with a dark face, barely noticing Xiang Youran hurrying to keep up behind him.
He was truly hungry—he hadn’t even caught a chick, and it had cost him a lot of energy.
When he walked in to find only a single head of cabbage and two eggs left on the table, Zhou Ziheng was utterly defeated.
He took off his gold-rimmed glasses and hung them on his collar, his face clouded as he took the last two items.
Xiang Youran glanced at his retreating figure, her brows arching with helplessness. She looked to the camera and teased, “It seems Mr. Zhou really is quite hungry today.”
With that, she followed Zhou Ziheng out, leaving the cameraman a little flustered and fluttering.
Once everyone had gathered outside—
They stood in a line, each holding the food they’d managed to claim.
In Yu Tang’s basket, a bag of live crawfish still writhed enticingly.
While in front of Zhou Ziheng, there was only a lonely pair of greens and two eggs.
The production crew, seeing that everyone was out, cleared their throats and began to announce the day’s challenge.
“There’s something we didn’t mention earlier.”
“For today’s outdoor task, apart from the visible missions you all completed, we also secretly assigned hidden tasks to three guests.”
“Those who complete a hidden task may, at this moment, choose to switch teammates.”
“According to our tally, the hidden tasks were distributed to three guests in total.”
“Of those, two have completed their tasks; one has failed.”
With those words, the buzz of conversation among the guests swelled.
Xie Yi raised his hand obediently, “Director, does this mean only those who completed a hidden task get to decide what they eat for this meal?”
“In other words, if Sister Yu Tang completed a hidden task and chose to swap teammates with Mr. Zhou, then Mr. Zhou would get to eat what she has.”
“And Mr. Shen would eat whatever Ms. Xiang has?”
Everyone’s gaze shifted to Yu Tang, some with a glimmer of hope.
After all, Yu Tang was now the richest person around—if she had a hidden task and could swap teammates, wouldn’t everyone have a chance?
Even the usually aloof Zhou Ziheng was tempted by Xie Yi’s suggestion.
Shen Tianshi, on the other hand, remained utterly at ease, raising his chin with confidence.
Based on his understanding of the production team’s style, they would never assign two hidden tasks to the same group—there’d be no drama in that.
He already had a hidden task, so Jiang Wuyang wouldn’t. No need to worry.
The director picked up the loudspeaker and answered Xie Yi, “That’s right. The food each group gets depends on whether the hidden-task guest’s team succeeds.”
At this, a fresh wave of whispers swept the room.
After all, this was their one chance at a proper meal.
Yu Tang has a hidden task, right? Maybe she’ll pick me?
Dreaming online of being kept by a wealthy woman.
